That was actually the one thing that I found ridiculous... an android performing a mind meld.

That implies she has some kind of telepathic ability, but androids have never been shown to have telepathy.
They are telepathic robots now it seems. :)
Those Romulan ships are fine but rather bland looking. I was hoping for some Valdore type ships in the fleet. I always liked that design.

i gave it a 7. the opening sequence was a ton of fun, but like all scenes in the CBS all access era, it was too short. and while i can praise the show for fully embracing its TNG roots, sexy gold soji and brent spiner playing another soong was just kinda cheesy.

honestly the way everyone was dressed reminded me of the edo in “justice”. i kept thinking, this isn’t the android planet, it’s the orgy planet.

I've stayed away in recent weeks as my opinion of the show dropped, and I didn't want to "hate watch" and then moan on here. But.....what the hell are they doing? WHAT the hell are they doing?!

The thing is, there's a good show in here somewhere.....but these people are incapable of finding it. This episode was just plain bad. I'm not even going to be kind and say "Yay we see Soong again!" This was just bad. Hokey, ham-fisted. A barely-there plot manufacturing no tension to build up to the end of the episode. Poor writing in a basic sense. At least Captain Picard actually was something like himself for fleeting moments but otherwise? A mess....it's a mess.

I'm not angry. I'm just disappointed.

I'm thinking it's like this...

Noonien Soong and his son had some disagreements on how to proceed in creating androids, and they went to different worlds to finish their work. Noonien on Omicron Theta, Alton on Coppelius.

They both succeeded, but in different ways.

I do like the twist of the Admonition being a promise and not a warning. So it looks like this AI force is intergalactic, something we virtually never see in STAR TREK. I like this idea, because that opens up more of the universe.

Asimov rip off alert! They're definitely not Zeroth Law followers. R. Daneel would be...gravely concerned.

So.......that was kind of a mess. I'm not even sure what to think. I didn't hate it, but I didn't particularly like it either. And good Lord why would anybody trust that Sutra? She might as well have had a giant sign on her forehead that says "I AM AN EVIL TEMPTRESS"

It does seem odd that the show started with sympathy for the Romulans, only to now show that crews of 218 Romulan warbirds will willingly commit genocide on the orders of a Zhat Vash group that doesn't even officially exist. What happened to their empire being irreparably damaged by the destruction of their homeworld? "

The Zhat Vash operatives may not officially exist as such, but they do have status in the existing Romulan power structure.

As for why the Romulans still have hundreds of warbirds, it's not like their ships would simply have ceased to exist. They didn't sit around and wait to be burned u by the supernova.

I actually thought it was the weakest of the season.......I know it's setting the stage but, just kinda meh. And the mind meld.........have we ever had anything like that?

Well, human telepaths are a thing, per TOS --although honestly, I can't remember seeing one since.

An android doing it is new. OTOH, I don't have a good reason why an android couldn't duplicate this ability. (Hell, in Asimov's works telepathy is developed by robots and taught to humans, rather than the other way around.)

What are Sutra's motivations? Power? She was the one who hurt her fellow synths by releasing Narek.

Also Narek can kill an android so easily? This doesn't strike Soong as odd? I thought androids activated and were super strong and super fast when in danger.
More likely Sutra and let Narek escape to take the fall for it plus pushing her own agenda.

The woman whom Soji and Dahj was modeled after...

Surprise me. Personally some new models like an Odysee Class ship, but I don't mind seeing good ol' Sovereign Enterprise-E either ;)

I would assume all of them were clones of the original father and there is no mother. At this point they probably have artificial wombs.

Yes, this was incredibly dumb. IDK. The more I think about it, this episode was just kinda bad. I had the fear the writers had written themselves into a corner after last week's episode and this one did nothing to dispel that fear.
