How about: why does Hugh look so much better than the other ex-Borg? Where did he get his Nip-and-Tuck?
I actually was kind of wondering about this. I'm curious if there is a reason some of the ex-Borg look worse than others? Seven was a Borg for 20+ years and other than the handful of visible implants she looks pretty good, same goes for Hugh. But then we are seeing a lot of other ex-Borg covered in scars and missing eyes. Do the doctors working for the Reclamation Project just suck at healing them compared to the whoever worked on Hugh and Voyager's Doctor?
Am I the only one who thinks the box looks kinda like a Rubik's cube?
I honestly though that's what it was when they first showed him playing with it.

The other ex-Borg weren't allowed to look better than Seven of Nine. NO ONE STEALS SEVEN OF NINE THE SHOW!

Isn't it likely if you haven't left - you aren't at the point you can leave and thus still need treatment?

we don't see a lot of really handsome XBs because they have left - it would be like hanging around the hospital after you have healed.

That would make sense. I guess it must just be a slower process than with Picard and Seven, or they just jumped past a lot of it with them.

Maybe both Hugh and 7 looked like crap for a bit too when they were first reclaimed. Remember that even Picard was still grey when he began to recover.

What I loved about this episode the most is that we see the Borg in a different light. In the past shows, they've always seemed somewhat........cartoony? Even when we saw the PTSD from being a Borg drone with Picard in some TNG episodes (as well as in First Contact) and with 7 of 9 in VOY, and they emphasized as to how devastating being a Borg drone can be, it still seemed like something from a comic book to me. This episode made the Borg feel "real" to me, if that makes any sense. I was afraid of the Borg before, but thanks to this show I'm now utterly terrified of them.

I also assume that Romulan medical tech – or what of it is available to the project – may not be as good as what the top of the line Starfleet ships have. Seven was de-assimilated by a medical hologram containing all of the knowledge of every doctor ever, while the XBs are being worked on by what's left of a collapsed culture post planetary disaster. Not really comparable.

I agree with this statement. Portraying the XBs as traumatized people worked well. I thought the one scene where they show the woman her face in a mirror was touching -- her lower lip quivers because of the emotions, as if she's holding back loads of tears.

It didn't hurt that the EMH had the hots for her.

“Aye Locutus, what up big dog!” Who doesn’t love a shoutout from one of the homies when you’re back in the neighborhood? My favorite sound bite from the episode. :)

I didn’t love the opening scene with Jurati moving on Rios, although it was hinted at last week when the two had that little convo about her being “bored.” But the episode picked up considerably after that.

Everything that happened on the artifact was great. I think the meeting with Picard was the first time we’d actually heard Hugh called by his name, and that was very cool.

Speaking as someone with an older sister who is VERY smart and successful, and whom I love very much, I could totally relate to the satisfaction Narek must have felt hearing his sister acknowledge his accomplishment, as nefarious as it was. But I do have a feeling his deep rooted feelings for Soji might still be his undoing.

Being a Federation citizen has its bennies. Like new eye technology and skin care.

Or Seven for that matter. She just has a couple of artfully placed implants here and there, but the other xB's have horrific-looking scars and their faces crudely "plugged" with black chunks.

Seven was fortunate to have the Voyager EMH to tend to implant removal and regeneration of skin tissues. That or Rick Berman and Brannon Braga were like: "Jeri is hot. Under no circumstances do you cover her face in ugly scars or too much technology! We have to get the best ratings possible!"

I prefer to think both were true. ;)

Seven of nine wasn't as lucky as Picard. He was a assimilated long enough to be fully implanted and even turned a blue like the rest of the Borg; yet it seems Dr. Crusher was able to get everything out and reverse the DNA changes totally to the point he had no physical scars from the experience whatsoever.

Yep. He had regenerative bandages over his implant locations at the end of "The Best of Both Worlds, Part II(TNG)" but even those were gone by the following episode.

I gave this one a 9. This has been a very consistent and steady S1 thus far, but I've given out all 7's and 8's until now. Something about this one just worked well for me.

The only thing I don't really like thus far is Dr. Jurati. She's a damn mess. I also think they've severely underutilized Elnor up to now. There's a lot to explore there.

In a complete turnaround from previous weeks, the Borg Cube / Soji stuff in this episode was great.

Picard pointed that difference out in the last episode, Seven was taken as a child. The maturation chambers can probably rebuild the subject beyond coming back to their pre-assimilated state.

Oh, I know that. I'm just agreeing with Noname Given and mentioning the bandages.
