Pretty good episode, much better than last week. This is violence I can tolorate and no it doesn't feel exploitative. It felt like a transitional show between last week and next week, but at least Picard and Soji have finally met. I really did like the trauma Picard was going through being back on the Borg Cube, and he and Hugh were great together. We even got some flashbacks to First Contact which was nice.

I'm going to hold off grading this one until the weekend but first reaction is probably a 7.

Not a bad episode, and great to see Hugh actually warmly welcome Picard. I was kind of concerned he'd be another bitter former associate, but it was quite the opposite and that felt JUST right! Narek likes his Jungian psychology. And gotta say, love the sleeker look of the Borg cube interior. I think Hugh said it was a newer cube, which could explain why it looks sleeker than previous cubes. Also, was that the Iconian gateway?

Ahhhh... forgot about that thing.
So did I, but the leader was a dick, so glad they got assimilated.

Makes me very curious on when this Borg Ship was still active. Was it like the Sphere in End Game, separated from the Collective, or did it suffer its breakdown because of Endgame, or is it something that happened utterly separate from that episode.

Any movement on the Dr Jurati murder front?
She made a lame excuse that he was very badly beaten and his heart gave out.
Nobody has questioned that... yet.

Oh my god. Did they just make an oblique reference to the concept of a Romulan's secret fourth name as described in Diane Duane's Rihannsu saga?! :adore:
YES
But it's now just a secret name saved for loved ones.
:techman:

We see her emotional stress over it, especially int eh first 15 or so minutes. But there is no hint that anyone suspects anything is wrong, besides her not handling the death of a friend/mentor/lover.

Frames showing the E from the FC battle, Hugh from I Borg, and that incredible Locutus overlap!!
Ugh... she kisses Rios right after Maddox died, and he goes along with it
More BOBW and FC pics!
Flotter!
Sikarian 40000 lj transporter!

!

"I am LOCUTUS of Borg. Resistance IS Futile!!" I guess some ex-Borg still remember this old Picard's catch-phrase ;)

Does this mean the theory that Rios is a hologram is confirmed?

Is that a planet within the Betazed system?
I have no clue, I'm just guessing cause of what next weeks trailer shows us and Nepenthe is where the device sent Jean-Luc & Soji.

He did specifically tell Hugh and Rios about it.

Since Trek is now trying to be edgy (with the Soji/Narek/Rizzo scenes) and they're going out of their way to make Jurati look creepy, they should have had the lines:

Agnes Jurati: So, Captain Rios, can one of your holograms and I...?
Rios: No.
Are you watching the same show I'm watching?
Considering what happened in this episode, my suggestion above now seems remarkably tame by comparison.

And what in the galaxy is up with Rios putting the moves on grieving (as far as Rios knows) Jurati? Everyone booed and hissed when Grima hit on Eowyn while she was grieving for Theodred in Lord of the Rings, but when Rios does it it's ok just because he has muscles? What a double standard. :(

Perhaps we're not always seeing the real Rios?
Could the EH's pop in on their own occasionally?

Ummmmm ... She actually came on to him.

Twice.
And when they walked away, she was leading him.

I loved Picard and Hugh's meeting and their happy embrace. And their walk-and-talk around the cube discussing the xBs was great. "A new name can be the first step of a new identity." - Referencing being given the name Hugh was nice. I do hope Picard does become an advocate for the xBs.

The Spatial Trajector is definitely a deep reference.

Perhaps this will be the focus of Season 2?
Jean-Luc fighting for the Federation to recognize the XB's status.
