Star Trek passings

I think he guest starred in almost all my favorite TV shows. A great actor who I now realize added to my life through his body of work. Rest in Peace.

This is strange, but I have memories of his death being announced last summer. I must have been dreaming, and presciently.

Wasn't attempting that, by any means. My memories have a different name associated with the actor, which is in accordance with my true memories of years gone by; to wit, I never knew his name before. I either misunderstood an announcement of an actor's demise, or I dreamed it, I don't know which.

Over the decades, I've done regular research on the actors from all the various Star Trek incarnations to see who has passed away and have documented such with year of death, what one character they played and one episode they played a part in. I do not track producers, directors, construction crew other than Gene Roddenberry himself. There are many actors who left Hollywood and acting behind and there is no trace of them online or in print anywhere I can find. I will someday only be able to guess their status.

Classic Star Trek has lost 265 actors as of September 2017.
ST:TNG has lost 106 actors.
ST:DSN has lost 39.
ST: Voyager has lost 28
ST: Enterprise has lost 8
From the various movies, we've lost 53
From the new generation movies, we've lost 2.

For a total of 501 so far....

So basically you're telling us who has keeled over...

Sorry...

I was surprised to read just yesterday that Norman Lloyd, who played Professor Galen in TNG's "The Chase", is still with us at the age of 103.

Wow!!! Is that a record? I mean is there an actor that played in the franchise that managed to live even longer?

He was on MSNBC back with Keith Obermann, talking about how he played tennis with Chaplin.

And that was—what?—10 yrs ago?

I know some people like to lie about their age and Norman Lloyd may be saying that he's 104, but he's actually 106 - he was born in November of 1914. Shame on him for trying to FIB about his age. And no nobody has come close to living that old that's been involved with Star Trek. A couple of actors made it to 100+ years old. The other 2 Star Trek living actors over 100 years of age are Nehemiah persoff who is 101 and Marsha hunt who is 103. Both also appeared on the Next Generation.

god, how time flies! It seems like it was just last week I'd heard Lloyd turned 104 and now he's 106. Unreal....

I wonder if he feels time is dragging or time is flying. I hope he is healthy and mentally alert. Cuz what would be the point of living to that age and not having your faculties.

Well, you never know. My mother is 94 and she's practically incapable of memorizing anything new but she's still enjoying herself and she's always pleased to see me.

Plus she's in perfect health!

My friend's mother is 97 and lives alone and gets around on foot, cooks and has few, if any, memory issues. Luck of the draw, I guess.

I am saddened to hear that Mira Furlan of Babylon 5 passed away, only 65. That one hurts.

Gregory Sierra passed away, age of 83. Played 'Entek' on DSN's episode 'Second Skin'. Also played a huge role in 'Barney Miller'.

I thought Larry Niven had passed away years ago...
