This came into my Facebook feed

I just had to share it here

Kind of cute, a little funny, but the use of 'is' instead of 'are' for The Borg in the choruses was grating.

Thanks for the share, though. :techman:

Parodies tend to suck, in general - but of STAR TREK, they especially suck. Even something like GalaxyQuest, which all these TREKKIES revere is incredibly overrated. Alan Rickman & Sam Rockwell were good, Missi Pyle's always good, whatever she's in ... the rest of the cast, I could take them, or leave them. The movie, itself, was just OK. The only time I laugh is when Sigourney says, "Well F that!!!" when she's got to go through the chompers. It's the only line she says with any sincerity, in the whole movie. STAR TREK's got enough camp and cheese in it, that there's really no need in sending it up, really...

I read that GQ was a love letter to the fans of Star Trek...

And Tim Allen likes Star Trek

A quarter of a century later, they're basing a television series off it, too ... TREKKIES are that patient.

Tim Allen is a huge Star Trek fan. For the record, I consider Galaxy Quest to be one of my favorite Trek films.

Full Disclosure: Late one night, while bored... Nothing there for a gay guy like me to see, though.

COOL! Captain Kirk's doppleganger, here, looks like he's an actor from the Film Noir days. I'd cast him as Dick Tracy, in a minute.

His acting talent was all in his hair, kind of like Samson. When it was down to his shoulder blades, he was a passable actor. Once he cut it, yeeuucchhh.

Some have said that Star Trek did it themselves, with "Spock's Brain."

Actually, I like a lot of the parodies I've seen and read. But they've got to be clever parodies, and the jokes should be genuinely funny and not just gratuitous sex or bathroom "humor."

"Ducts...why is it always ducts? was pretty funny.

And, the "looking for the shoe" scene was also good.

Plus Tony Shaloub stole the whole entire movie.

Hmm, I guess I liked it!

But, I still like you,'Frakes!

... I'm not sanguine about parodies, HIjol, that's all. Galaxy Quest has an all-star cast and Missi Pyle playing a sweet, wholesome character plays nicely against type. I like that. I do feel that Sigourney was miscast, though I get they were trying to play off her "Ripley" image. It's very hard to buy Sigourney as a blonde bombshell. Gwen always seemed to be "on" like she was always acting, even when people thought she wasn't. GQ is a harmless movie, though. Not great ... but harmless. And that's not so bad, after all, is it?
