Talking about socialising, i was about to play through the new story arc on STO in coop only to find out its single player only content, so well done STO for again exceeding my expectations of what a MMO should be. Lol

Yeah, I noticed that the fleet looks abandoned...
10th anniversary, WOW! I remember hearing the naysayers proclaim that STO would never make it to a 2nd.

Yep, I'm coaching a new player and discovered that the four Discovery missions and the two Featured missions are solo play... :-/

Hi, just first to let you know where I'm at in the game, I currently have a level 58 starfleet character and a Scimitar on xbox.

    I have a few questions.

    What exactly do fleets do?

Is there much to do at the endgame in STO?

Do I meet the requirements to join or do I have to be level 65 first?

    - Fleets are organizations of other players that contribute their resources to build several facilities, such as starbases, science research centers and other things. The higher-tiered the base, the greater the resources the fleet memebers have access to. You can purchase extra slots for Upgrades, for example, but only at a certain tier. A Fleet Tailor becomes available at a certain point that provides access to uniform types you can't find anywhere else (that's where I got my Odyssey Dress Uniform which is the closest thing I can find to a TWOK-era "Monster Maroon" on the XBox, if tricked out just right). There are weapons and equipment vendors there that sell items that can't be found at main faction bases. That kind of thing.
    - You can go out to various skirmish and battlezone areas, earn personal marks and put them towards endgame features like "Reputation". I'm currently at a Tier-6 New Romulus reputation, which gives me access to assist units, both for Ground and Space missions. If you're in a fleet, you can acquire fleet marks, which are often required resources to advance a fleet base to the next tier. You can also do additional TFO and other missions that will buy you "Endeavor" points, that provides additional buffs to your skills (that some have accused of being quite unfairly overpowered - which, of course, instantly attracted me :)).
    - Depends on the fleet. Fleet commanders set the requirements for new members. Some don't care about level; some have a minimum (like in the 40's or 50's); others, yes, require a full 65 in order to join. It doesn't take long to level up in this game, though. When I started playing last year, it only took me a little over a month to get to Fleet Admiral for my SF character. About the same later for my KDF character.

Once you get to a certain level and others see you in action in the field, either space or ground, the invites are going to start rolling in. Be careful who you pick, and look at their membership requirements. Some of them are hard core players and require daily involvement and regular contributions to station upgrades or you'll get booted. Others are more relaxed, casual gamers, who don't get all worked up if you're not on every day. I saw this kind of extremism in Warcraft years ago and it was an instant turn-off for me, which is why I never got into that game. I'm generally more a single-player gamer; STO is the only MMO game I'm on these days, and I find it to be an excellent balance between single player missions and multiplayer opportunities. You don't need to deal with other players if you don't want to. Just do your own thing, if that's what you do. There are benefits, however, to being a part of a fleet. YMMV as to what you think you can get out of it.

Oh that all sounds quite good. Except for the hardcore part like you said haha. I also dislike that kind of level of involvement in any game. I'm all for working together at times and having fun to achieve certain goals and all. However I'm not interested in going far out of my way for a bunch of people I've never met before haha. Or to feel that I'm obliged to log on when they say so.

Apart from the hardcore part though, endgame of STO actually sounds quite interesting. I didn't even know there were player built starbases around. That's really pretty cool.

All I want basically is for my scimitar to be extremely powerful and also very fast in sector and system space. Having a group to hang with in the game would just be an added bonus I'd say. Also having our own starbase sounds great.

Thanks for all the info :)

I still have around 20 codes for TWOK Monster Maroons that I packed in storage. (Received at a Star Trek con years ago) I will swing by my storage unit Saturday and look for them.

Also, if you login through ARC, you get Khan's uniform which you can equip in an off-duty uniform slot. Not sure if that promo is still active though...

A good guide to ensure that you're using canon colors for any era uniform is at Gamepedia:

    Thanks \\//

    Thanks very much!

Before you take the time to do that, are those XBox-compatible codes, by any chance? That's the console I'm running. If it's for a PC or PlayStation account, it sadly won't work. I've tried everything that's been publicly available for some time and none of those codes are recognized.

And the Khan outfit is still available out of the Zen Store - I got it during a promotional period last summer, but never actually tried it on.

Anyone catch those "adjusted" sound effects yesterday? Some of the in-universe audio assets were replaced with people (I'm assuming developers) making "beep", "boop" and "ptew ptew" noises. There would be the occasional "POWER!", "MIPS!", "ZOOM!", "ENGAGE!", "EXPLOSION!" and "DESTRUCTION!" onomatopoeia popping up on occasion (like, someone actually saying those exact words, dramatically). At first, I honestly thought the game got hacked by some bored and sequestered gray-hats - I posted on the ArcGames website about it and it was confirmed to be a April Fool's joke. Freaked me out at first, but found it quite amusing after the explanation was given.

So I’m curious... Every so once in a rare while I see someone “invoke” a series of colorful holographic images of the logos of all the different organizations represented in the game. Not sure if it’s from one of the older anniversary party poppers (I have years 1, 8, 9 and 10 and it’s none of them) because I never see when it’s being done, only after it’s done so I’m not sure where it’s coming from. It’s so rare I haven’t been able to find a screen cap of it yet (still looking). Any thoughts? A ground-based emote, perhaps?

Yeah, in their quest to get your cash they have completely cluttered the game up the wazzo, inventory and banks slots were filled up long ago, and at this point i personally don't know how long it would take for me to wade through all my characters checking crammed inventories and bank slots to discard what is of no use......and i know from memory that one of my characters is sitting with one of those big end teir lock box Hirogen ships that i bought from exchange for gazzillions a few years ago, yet i can't remember which one has it as i have not gone through them all to find it as yet.......just so much clutter to wade through, so many exchange lock box ships bought and never opened thanks to that LTS stipend, i will really need to sit down one year and go through them all. Lol

Sorry I overlooked this post. They added a 6th tier to your captain's reputation, one of the rewards for completing is that little piece of flair. You can get 13 so far of them.
