There is a Cure event going on today at 2 different times. I'll be doing the 8pm EST run. Will anybody else be making it out to take on the Borg tonight? I'm looking forward to getting more Encrypted Data Chips and Dilithium.

I was online for a bit and saw the channel chatter. Sounded like chaos. :-)

Took part in the cure space run last night and had a blast. The team I was in did really well too, managing to do it within the optional achievement target.

It was fun, and has me convinced to do more of them. I want to collect either the MACO or Omega Force space and ground sets. So far, I'm leaning towards the MACO XI set. For those that already have these sets, can you suggest which ones are best?

I'm just starting out with the STF's and so far have only collected 4 EDC's. I did the original STF's with the TrekBBS fleet, and was able to collect the retro set and Borg BOFF through those.

Well, that blows. The STO website is currently down for scheduled maintenance, the launcher says that "Normal Gameplay is not affected." Except the login server is down too. They've really gotta start getting their act together on these.

It's tough to make a recommendation at the moment, partly because both space and ground sets are getting revised (some heavily revised) and each piece of a set has it's own strengths. This includes the Borg, Aegis and Breen sets which are getting slightly changed as well.

These recommendations are based on the current build on tribble.

For a 2-piece set bonus, the Omega is best. The tetryon glider now works and effectively adds damage to shields (but shields only). Combined with the polarized tetryon beam array, which has a 10% chance of proccing compared to the normal 2.5%, it could be very useful.

Note that currently the Omega engine is seriously bugged. It's supposed to half the cooldown rate of quantum slipstream, but it's now also decreasing ALL boff/captain powers cooldown time (cannon rapid fire for example is 15 seconds with these engines equipped). Can't believe they're letting this go live.

Of the two, the MACO shield is easily the best. 10% energy weapon resistance, high cap for a resilient shield and the Power Conduit Link passive. Upon recieving damage, the power conduit link gives a +2 power bonus to all systems. This stacks up to +10 power for 15 seconds.

As for ground, I'd have to say the MACO set easily. However, once they've finished adjusting the space sets, the ground sets are going to be changed, so I'd hold off for now.

I don't have either, so you can take this with a grain of salt.

I *think* that the Omega Force is more aligned for Tactical and the MACO for Engineers.

Yeah, it was down last night also for about 30 minutes or so. Everyone was getting stuck at the retrieving character list.

^^^ Thanks for the input. Since the sets require so much EDC's, it will be a while before I'm able to get any part of the sets anyways. Hopefully by the time I can get part of a set, the changes will be finalized. Looks like my first item will be from the space set, since those changes are going live first.

So...is taking down the website for maintenance, fucking up login servers in the process and not saying anything about when servers will be back up again Cryptic's new MO now?

I hope not because it sure is annyoing.
Was looking forward to playing when I got home from work, but it looks like I won't be able to play at all tonight.
Fucking hate those anti european maintenance times...It's prime time here for crying out loud!

They're probably getting ready for the free to play launch in a few days, but, yeah, it's annoying.

Yeah, that's been going on for a few hours now, at least 4-5 hours now. I hope they do something more than "We apologize for the inconvenience" and actually say something nicer and admitting that they blew it. You can't access the game, you can't access the website, you can't access the forums. Trifecta Fail.

Er... Except they announced the downtime yesterday, and specifically said both the website and the game servers would be down.

The Holodeck shard is undergoing an extended maintenance. We anticipate the shard will be back online at approximatley 1 hour (12:00PM PST / 20:00 UTC). We apologize for any inconvenience.

The latest message from Cryptic

Everything is back now.

And is it just me, or is the game moving at a much faster speed than usual? I rather like it.

Er... Except they announced the downtime yesterday, and specifically said both the website and the game servers would be down.

I saw about the website, it specifically said gameplay would not be affected.

"On Thursday January 12th from 6:00AM to 10:00AM PDT (1300 to 1700 UTC) we will be performing scheduled maintenance on the Star Trek Online shards and website. Both will be offline for the duration."

That's the ENTIRETY of the announcement yesterday. It clearly says the shards will be "offline for the duration".

Well, I stand corrected on that part. However, the launcher only made mention today of the website and I quote: "Gameplay will not be affected." just woulda been nice if they'd had their stories straight is all I'm saying.

Of course, you'll also note that we seem to be having 3-6 hours of 'scheduled maintenance' just about every single day lately. Can't say quite what's being fixed, but they are taking things down a lot to do it. Can't recall the last time I logged in in the AM and didn't see a message that the server would be down for a few hours today...

They change Website and client layout quite a bit... Perfect World is now on there....
So it`s a bit more then regular maintenance.
They hooked up PW accounts as well for this.

This last update did that. The previous week or so has had downtime announcements every day (almost), without these changes, though.

Game-wise, saw they changed the graphics option to get into the DOFF screen, and removed Transwarp as a ship power (moved it to a button the map, which is an improvement)
