I'm using C:SV on my Fleet Armitage to attack multiple targets too, so dps figures in ISE shouldn't differ that much. But they do. My latest figures are 13k for Recluse (sci), 10k for Galor (eng), 8k for Fleet Armitage (tac), 7k for Temporal Destroyer (sci).

Also, I have been doing the same foundry mission on all my ships to farm ec and I am seeing a similar dps rate in terms of time needed to destroy a single Negh'Var. The Recluse and Galor are both than my Fleet Armitage with DHCs and Turrets.

What consoles/boffs/weapons are you using to get the good dps without cannons? I doubt I could put together a ship as well as you can (at the very least, I'm not willing to spend the ec/dil to get awesome stuff), but being able to hold my own/not be a drain on the team with my non-escorts would please me something fierce.

Also, which particular foundry mission do you use for ec farming? There's a bunch, and I don't know which one to pic.

The secret is to overcap weapons power + beam arrays. That is, do whatever it takes to push weapon power well above 125 and beam arrays will suddenly deal a lot more damage. There are lots of ways to do this, Weapons Battery, Emergency Power to Weapons, Auxiliary to Battery, Energy Siphon, EPS Power Transfer, [X->W] Warp Cores, Borg Assimilated Module, Zero Point Energy Conduit, Red Matter Capacitor, Plasmonic Leech Console, etc..

Nobody really knows exactly why this works. Some say each point of power above 125 adds more damage to beams, others say the additional power provides a buffer against weapons drain and makes beams do their maximum damage. All we know is the effect is a significant boost to beam array damage. Stack on Attack Pattern Alpha, Beta or Omega for even more damage, Fire At Will to attack all ships in range and watch your dps climb to crazy heights.

I just realize some of my characters are out of ship slots, bank slots are full too. With the Risan corvette coming in a few days, I'm wondering if I should delete some of my old and unused low and mid-tier ships?

I deleted most of the lower tiered ships and now regret it as it cost dil to replace them. Only delete a ship if you know that you'll never use it again. (C-store purchases can be reclaimed.)

Yeah, they stick you there, can't reclaim ships you've bought if they weren't C-Store ships. Even ones you got back when they were free.

Made that mistake on my KDF toon a while back. Mostly, I needed them for storage space, as we're now up to like 20 different shield/engine/deflector sets you could have collected over the years, but storage growth hasn't kept up.

About to just start deleting tribbles, pets, and the anniversary toys, as they just refuse to make allowances for people that have been playing this for 3+ years now, and have all kinds of crap we can't really keep storing, and don't really want to throw away because you can no longer earn these items....

I usually delete my free ships as I level up, until I hit Admiral. Just doesn't feel right that a Commander can be captain of three different ships at once. But an Admiral could naturally command a fleet, which is what I see my stable of ships as.

Plus, it frees up ship slots, which as a silver player I don't have many of.

Last week, I played the episode with Scotty in it. (Night of the Comet?) Made me reminisce about the last time that I saw James Doohan. He seemed like a fun gentleman and said something along the line that Scotty was just James Doohan with a Scottish accent.

So why am I posting about an actor in the STO forum? - Scotty was a hugh inspiration for my playing Star Trek Online. My first character is a FED Engineer.

Mr. Doohan crossed the great barrier eight years ago and I wanted to tip my hat to him.

Suddenly I'm having a problem getting in game.

"Cryptic Game Launcher Has Stopped Working"

Haven't been able to get in, or find out how to reliably fix it. Running updates on my laptop today to see if that helps.

uh-oh! you better hope you are not forced to use ARC now.

There might be a re-install for the launcher available somewhere else on the internet.
You only get Arc now on the STO page.

I downloaded the latest version of the launcher, and it's still crashing. I just get an empty launcher window, then the error message. I can't make heads or tails of the details.

Most of the posts I've seen online about this problem point to a problem with nVidia graphics cards, or a dual graphics card setup. But I have a pretty basic Intel graphics set. Never had a problem till a couple days ago.

I only just realized that the 2 Costume Slot unlock currently on sale in the c-store is a steal. 200 zen for 2 additional costumes on ALL my characters, what a steal.

Hmm. I just won a D'Kora. They're going for 88mil in the exchange - not sure whether to keep or sell it... probably won't make huge amounts of use out of it (I have loads of other ships) but it might be worth it. What do y'all think?

Ruaidhri - sorry that I can't help. I had a serious problem with the launcher last year and had to eventually copy the install from one computer to another to fix.

Intrinsical - I probably have enough costume slots; however, I took that offer. As you stated, it's a steal.

Jim Gamma - IMHO, if you don't have plans for the ship there is no reason to keep it. Use the funds to outfit your other ships or buy dil.

I've actually narrowed the problem down to a corrupted .dll file. It's affecting other programs on my laptop as well. From what I can tell the one sure fire way to correct it is to do a reinstall of Windows 7. I'm not even sure I got a disc with the computer. Need to go rummaging through my computer stuff. Not sure what to do if I can't find it, or just plain don't have it.

Try replaceing just the .dll first.

If you have to re-install Win 7 and you've lost your disk, there are several tools available to recover the product key. I had to do that with my laptop's OS and Office. If your laptop came with Win 7 preinstalled, there may be a sticker on the bottom or back of your laptop with the key.

* disclaimer - these instructions are intented for users that have a legal copy of the software. :-)

I know I've veered into discussion that isn't really about STO, so I apologize for that.

I have actually tried downloading a replacement for the .dll file, even though everything I've read seems to very strongly advise against it. I wish there was a reputable site from which to download it, but I can only find independent sites offering the download. Anyway, the one attempt I made didn't work, and the OS didn't even recognize the new file as even being present in the folder.

My laptop is HP, and sadly the missing file is necessary to even use the HP updater. There is a product key for Windows 7 on the bottom. Thank you Rocketeer, because I stupidly never even thought to look at the bottom. I have a feeling I'm going to have to re-install. Which will be such a pain. I just wish I knew what had caused the corruption of the file so I could avoid doing it again.

I guess I'll just have to treat this like a blessing, getting the chance to clear a lot of crap off my hard drive. Time to make some fresh back-ups of all my personal files!
