I'll probably be downloading and playing the PS4 version tomorrow. I played the PC version for a few weeks either earlier this year or last year before I got stuck and moved on to other things, but I've been thinking about giving it another try. I'm mainly a console gamer, and being able to play it on my PS4 is a huge plus for me, and hopefully I'll do a lot better than I did on the PC.
I'm a little disappointed to hear it is so buggy, but one of the advantage to modern online games is that hopefully we can get a few updates to fix those bugs over time.

I haven't noticed any real bugs yet, apart from occasionally taking a while to realise I've completed an objective and loading the next one. It also locked me in a shuttlecraft for a while. But as you say it's an MMO so gets patched every 5 minutes anyway.

And thanks for the heads up on the giveaway! Logging in so I can download it now (on both platforms)

I'm hearing second hand info that Cryptic wanted to push back the release date so they could polish the game further, but CBS pushed hard to release it before the 50th anniversary. The quiet launch does suggest that this rumor is plausible.

I've also heard there is one mission involving Empress Sela that crashes the game on PS4. That sounds like something in the Romulan Arc, so watch out for that. If it happens, skip that mission and move on to the next mission.

The PS4 version is pretty rough at this point. Glitchy, and I can't connect half the time.
Seen only one glitch so far, log in has been smooth but we recently switched up to fibre internet so it may just be bandwidth hungry. What have you had glitch so far in case I need to sleep roubd it. Here one of our characters got stuck in their first officer chair in the tutorial. Log out fixed it.

I think I've downloaded this twice but never got around to starting. So, folks -- whaddya think, is it a good time to give it a go?

If anyone is interested in forming a new trekbbs fleet for the PS4, I've set up a community page 'TrekBBS Armada' please join if your interested.
Once there is enough of us online we can then form a new fleet :) (will need 5 players)

Ok, so me and my friend have hit the PS4 Empress Sela bug and either have to skip the mission entirely, or go off and do other things until we get a patch. My question is, in regards to PVE, what else is there to do?

I've read about Aid missions, but can find where to get them. Found a guy who told me to deliver aid supplies to the Khazon Cluster, but can't locate it. On Galactic map that shows all the quadrants I can see the cluster, but on the map that I can plot courses, it's not there.

Are missions like Aid and Diplomacy only available after certain levels? I'm 27.

Yep. I just started my 5th character, and began the "Agents of Yesterday" campaign. It's a lot of fun having the TOS sounds and effects.

It's not in the console version yet, I don't think anything beyond the base game is yet. I could play it on PC, but the keyboard controls just tie my head in knots...

What are the benefits of being in a fleet? I've only ever solo'd it.

Does the glitch occur when playing AS as Romulan, or during the Romulan arc in the Fed storyline?

Personally I'd either just drop the one mission, or if you really don't want to do that, start a new character as a different faction and play that until it's patched...

I just bought a Tholian mesh weaver from the exchange, 2 half million EC, very low price, quite a few on there, good little ship as well, T5 and you can upgrade to T5 U, 5 tac consoles and it loves Tetron weapons, you should grab one at that price, they are a lot of fun to run about in.

Most things won't unlock until level 50 and the reputation system unlocks.
Thanks. I've tried doing as much reading online about the details of the game, but much of what I've found does not apply to the console version. I feel like I'm fumbling around in the dark right now.

I don't know if any of these are on the console, but at least on the PC side there are a couple of small missions. There's a few daily missions that you can do everyday for rewards. Notable ones are Tour The Galaxy (for earning energy credits), Defera sector dailies and Traelus System.

There should also be a few low level PvE Queues, such as Starbase 24, Gorn Minefield Fleet Action, The Big Dig, etc..

What are the benefits of being in a fleet? I've only ever solo'd it.

Fleets are important for unlocking and obtaining end-game gear and abilities such as:
  • Fleet Ships that have +10% hull and shields and +1 console
  • Better tactical and science consoles that improve multiple stats instead of just one stat
  • Fleet space and ground weapons, warp and singularity cores
  • Romulan bridge officers for non-Romulans that improve ship damage
  • Krenim bridge officers that can reduce recharge time of abilities
  • Duty officers with rare effects
  • Unlock additional trait and reputation slots
To get these, you'll need to be in a fleet AND contribute actively to build up the fleet's holdings.

Klingon-aligned Romulans won't get the mission. If you're a Federation-aligned Romulan, then yes you will get the mission and would encounter the bug. You can skip the mission for now and play it at a later date when it's been fixed.

No romulans would get the empress sela episode, as the first 5 episodes in this arc are federation only episode. Romulan and KDF characters pick up the story line from the vault onwards in the romulan story arc.

been playing this on ps4 and I LOVE it. Just completed some mission (spoilers just in case lol........sorry, just trying to be polite and delay a little bit longer in case you didnt realize SPOILERS ARE COMING) where you travel between K7 and some other station and you run into the triolic wave energy aliens from TNG's Time's Arrow. It was awesome taking my modified constitution class back and forth between the present and TOS timelines and interacting with Bones and Scotty to save the day (and earn a cool TOS phaser rifle item my character now uses on every away mission lol). I want to play more but I have to work the next few days, so time to put the game away :(

I was thinking about purchasing the LTS for PS4 but I heard you don't get the 500 zen/month stipend and it costs $300...... thats way too much for me. Especially considering I paid $60 back in 2008 to own the game before it was free to play and still get nothing to show for it today.
