Star Trek Online Discussion Thread - Delta Rising

Nimoy's death got me back in the game after a long absence. Currently doing the Delta Rising content... where in the story does "Dust to Dust" fit? I like to do feature eps at the "correct" point in the storyline, though I realise I don't have long to go to complete it as part of the anniversary... I'm currently on Kobali Prime having done the first set of missions for the General and now locked out of further progress until I hit 54 (about halfway there).

It belongs at the end of the Kobali Front. Somewhere around lebel 58.
if you want to earn the 400 Qmendations and the Kobali uniform from the anniversary you have to play it before that.
Outside of thta there is no reason to not wait. The mission will remain with all other rewards.

It depends on what missions you've done; if you've just finished Kobali Prime then you can do it then, but if you've already done the final mission "What's left Behind" the dialogue options are slightly different and mentions something about not being able to contact Eldex.

Found this on STO reddit, a full sized version of the galaxy map from Tribble: http://dl.kuschku.de/Galaxymap.png

Thanks guys. In the end, I did it after Harry and I unveiled the Kobali use of the Vaadwaur pods and the confrontation with Gaul on the Talaxian colony. It seems to fit well there, even if you don't yet know the background to the renewed Vaadwaur assault (yes, I've peeked).

I found this video last week on FB. Watching it now again. I'm excited about the new map and season 10. I reckon for the first few days, I'm just gonna fly around a lot.

Since we had a discussion about torpedo boats some time back, I just had to mention this.

Since my main flies a cannon boat, I decided to do the CC event with my alt who has a torpedo boat. I was afraid I was going to take grief for not providing enough damage, but strangely enough, I didn't. At the end of the mission I got the notice that I came in second in damage.

Also, when the Entity let it's wave loose, I didn't take any damage. I found that odd. Does it only hurt you if you used energy weapons on it?

Damage alone does not determine your score in this. Number of enemies damaged and more importantly healing is a factor, too.
Since you are running a torp boat, I assume your aux level is high and your heals very effective.
Also the entity has a high resist value against energy weapons but is vulnerable to kinetic attacks. So a high healing torp boat is really going to shine here. :)

The strenghth of the wave is depend on on how many stacks of recrystallization by small shards it can accumulate and energy damage it can soak up during the absorbing phase to cenvert to damage.
If players clear the recrystallization with science powers like tachyon beam and not fire energy during absorbing phase the wave will be mostly harmless and a few resist abilities and good gear can shrug it off.
If players don't debuff the entity and keep hitting it with overpowered energy attacks when absorbing the wave us going to just murder even good tanks.

I just Rock 'n' Roll pilot specialization just before the energy wave is released, that way I take no damage. :)

I do, too, but not everyone has that.

Plus, if you eat the damage and survive you can turn it back into healing points for a better mission score. ;)
But if you want to do that you should be damn sure you can survive the blast.

For awhile, I was flying my Support Cruiser Retrofit because I was really wanting that Fed ship aesthetic (similar to the Constitution) and I wanted 4 weapon slots. However, I also wanted cannons. So, I've been flying the Breen warship for the past couple of days...although I feel I should be in an actual Fed ship...lol

I'm considering the T6 Science Battlecruiser, but that turn rate is concerning me.

In other news: My toon got hit on again when I went to pay my respects on Vulcan, before the actual memorial was established. It was something to the effect: "Hey sexy, you're looking to pay respect to Spock?"

(I didn't answer...lol)

I'm still trying to get all my R&D levels to 15 so I can start upgrading. Currently, I'm using the Thoron Polaron beams(1 fore), turrets(3 aft), and cannons (2 fore)....and a quantum torp (fore) and Breen cluster torp (aft). I want to upgrade that quantum since I'm learning the power of that particular torp. Previously, I was using a transphasic.

Since I enjoy using my Gravity Well, and it's primarily used in the Lt. Cmdr and Cmdr. rank, this also factored into my choice of ship. Before the sci battlecruiser, I was thinking of the Advanced Patrol Vessal, which also has a Lt. Cmdr....but it doesn't seem to be getting good reviews from the players, so that's out.

The Breen warship isn't bad. I'm using the console from the Kobali cruiser that energizes the shields...and I have the set from the "Dust to Dust" episode, so I do okay.

But, I just want to look good doing it...lol

I think the Breen warship looks ugly. That's the reason I haven't gone for the Multi-Mission ship....or the Dyson destroyer.

Ugh, was making nice progress on the CE event, and want the torp, but looks like my GPU is trying to shit the bed. Usable for regular computing, but anything more intensive (like STO being the big one), and i bluescreen out. Built the PC in 2010, so guess i was due for a few upgrade parts. doubling the memory while I'm at it, will see if that gets me back in the fight...

Nope - there is one server only (Holodeck), plus test servers (Tribble and Redshirt). Roleplayers go on the same server as everyone else. However, it's all very heavily instanced so grief from non-RPers is not normally a big problem.

You might want to hold out with creating your first character until the Delta Recruit event. Any character started during that event gets extra bits of story line and can earn special event rewards that get unlocked for your entire account.

The event should start sometime within the next 14 days or so.
