The 5 Keys to Comedy:
Key #1: Be funny.
Key #2: Avoid having to explain the joke. This is easier if you just observe Key #1.

Today, I actually stumbled over MacKenzie Calhoun in STO.
He's one of the battlemasters (PvP-related NPCs) on K7. No sign of his ship, though.

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised when this happened to me too! Quite fun meeting Naomi Wildman on the same station (and playing football with tribbles!)
