Star Trek Online and Countdown Graphic Novel Continuities

^I see. My bad. I apologize. :(

But hey--Home Is The Hunter has a godlike being in there....

Perhaps he brought Garrovik back, and the book just neglected to mention that...?

Wouldn't that be something worth mentioning during the later book, particularly considering the character faces death more than once? ;)

^ Well, no, since I wasn't told to "resurrect" the character from his previous fate, so much as I was told to ignore what happened in the earlier book. :)

:shifty:(Note to self: KILL Ordover....):shifty:

Why? It's hardly the first time a novelist and editor have completed a standalone ST novel that isn't compatible with another standalone ST novel. (In fact, Richard Arnold, when he was vetting for the ST Office, loved all the novels to be completely standalone.)

Garrovick was a favourite guest character of mine, and I'd used him in movies-era fanfic. You can imagine I wasn't very pleased that he had been killed off on Page 1 of a ST novel like he was some disposable redshirt.

I was thrilled that Dayton gave the character such a juicy role in "In the Name of Honor".

Just incase you forgot what one was Ian, I'm pretty sure Rush was making a joke!

JOKE:

–noun

1. something said or done to provoke laughter or cause amusement, as a witticism, a short and amusing anecdote, or a prankish act: He tells very funny jokes. She played a joke on him.

2. something that is amusing or ridiculous, esp. because of being ludicrously inadequate or a sham; a thing, situation, or person laughed at rather than taken seriously; farce: Their pretense of generosity is a joke. An officer with no ability to command is a joke.

3. a matter that need not be taken very seriously; trifling matter: The loss was no joke.

4. something that does not present the expected challenge; something very easy: The test was a joke for the whole class.

(Although to be honest, only the first meaning really applies here)

From what I have read of Countdown and the online game,

I can't see Worf being on the defense force (he did that once already) and I don't think that one black mark should impede his being a captain. As much as Sisko thinks his opinion counts I bet there are tons of other people who would back Worf being Captain.

Data, why bring him back he did a heroic thing by dying for his shipmates and everyone else. Why cheapen it by using B4 with data's memories.

I personally find the whole federation/klingon war thing to be old. We have had books, movies even the shows did a federation/klingon conflict. Why not the Romulans/breen or a new species, I am sure someone can come up with something. (though I can understand why they did the federation/klingon thing)

Well this is kind of an unpleasant post.

It may be old to you, but most of the gamers will have never read ST novels. They would join a new (post-TNG and DS9 series) ST game anticipating all the elements they remember from the show, and that's Klingons grumbling about honor and war, Worf making controversial choices, and the return of the ever-popular Data.

Umm, Rush you do realize that the inter-novel continuity is something new that has only been going on for about 10 years or so. Before that these kinds of things were the norm for TrekLit, so it's not like they were breaking some sort of rule when this happened.

Watch out! Lest someone rolls their eyes at you, too!

Perfectly.

But I also know...that in the days before Richard Arnold...there was an honest-to-goodness continuity between the books.

And then he came along and forbid sequels, only rarely making exceptions....

Not really. There was a small amount of character sharing between the authors who knew each other, a chance for Diane Duane's original Pocket Books characters to appear in some DC ST comics, and some new tech exchanges between FASA and DC Comics.

Not "honest-to-goodness" continuity at all. You only have to track all the incarnations and fates of the Female Romulan Commander to see that.

Yep, each novel/author had its own "continuity".

Then why are you getting so worked up over it?

*sigh* It's called comedy, folks.

In comedy, we take things (in this case, my disdain for early lack of concern for book continuity), and take them to the extreme.

Now, do I really want to kill Ordover, and torture Richard Arnold's clone?

...

...

:scream:YES I DO!!!:scream:

:lol::lol::lol:....;)
