Star Trek NV: Torment of Destiny

Just in time for the holidays, the first trailer for James Cawley's latest episode (shot during summer 2015) is out on YouTube:

It's not too often that we have a new episode in the can before the preceding episode has been released. But since we have "Torment of Destiny" completely shot before we have released "The Holiest Thing," I recommended to James that we tack on the "Scenes From Next Week" episode preview to our upcoming release of "...Holiest...." You'll see this preview at the end of "...Holiest...," but here it is as a standalone clip.

It's a mad dash to try and get "...Holiest..." out before the quickly-approaching end of the year. But "Torment..." is still a ways away.

And as long as I'm here, James Cawley announced a day or two ago that our next Star Trek New Voyages shoot will be a script by the always great George Clayton Johnson.

Wow, Richard Hatch really steals the show! While no one can beat Kahn as the Tos villain with the most gravitas, Hatch comes close, at least from what is presented in this trailer. Can't wait for this one.

Very well-done. It looks like this episode explores some interesting ideas, too.

Nice trailer. Always nice to see Jeff Bond, but especially pleased to see Rebecca Wood again - both highlights from "Mind-Sifter" I thought.

Not sold on Gross here at all though. Yikes.

Great trailer! Looks like another incredible episode.

Out of curiosity, why has the format changed from 16x9 to 4x8? One of the things I loved about New Voyages right from the start was its bold cinematic vision, and this seems like a step back. Especially with STC in 4x8, it seems like an obvious way to distinguish the two productions? So I am curious about why the creative shift?

Don't you mean 4x3?

We're trying a new 4x8 aspect ratio and see if we can get it to be the new standard.

Right there with ya, bud. In fact, "yikes" was the exact word I used.

I didn't notice Gross because I was too busy shielding my eyes from all the splinters coming off Hatch's scenery chewing. ;) Wow.
