Star Trek Novels

The Reverend

Lieutenant
Red Shirt
Hey guys....

I used to hang out here years ago and just recently decided to return. I've been obsessively drawing and painting Trek related material forever, especially since having gotten the hang of Sketchup.

My favourite era of Trek is the unexplored Capt Robert April, pre Pike era, so the novels of Diane Carey I love dearly ... I tried doing comic Trek pages about them years ago as part of a portfolio and I want to try again now that I have a good working understanding of the 3d stuff.

So, from Diane Carey's "Best Destiny", this is my interpretation of the pirate salvager "Shark"

I wanted to convey a piece meal starship; a flying towtruck.

Comparable to a starship in relative size, but "little bully" enough to back down when confronted by a Constitution ship-of-the-line. The crew captures and kills crews they raid who happens unluckily across them so I figured they salvaged what they could for themselves then sold the remaining scrap and parts.

Il be adding colour art and characters later.

If you are who I think you are, I loved your work! Particularly the Atlas and Magni transports.

This latest reminds me a little of Reverend’s 2004 Starhawk that Vektor later fleshed out.

Welcome back! Shark looks great - I love the mish-mash design (and think it could even stand a bit more 'cobbling' :)).

- I think those were done by this Reverend?
Yeah, thats not me...

Yeah, I was looking for ways to make it look like a flying wreck to make it look more like the author described. She isn't finished quite yet...

Nice! What 3D software and renderer are you using?

Tip: The "More Options" button in the reply-to-post editor at the bottom of the thread will get you to an expanded editor that, among other features, will let you preview your posts. Very useful in making sure of things like your image links are working and you quote tags are correct.

Lols.... thats annoying... thanks for the guidance...

the models are constructed in Sketchup, and placement and environment paintings finished in Photoshop. I always had a soft spot less for CGI type photorealism and more 2 D animated looking art. I've been wanting to do an original graphic novel for years but have been dealing with work, depression etc. I thought BBS might be a good way to motivate to get myself back to work.

Sadly, it doesn’t have many ships.

Your take on the dreadnought of Carey’s....the Erewhon, Black Fire....I hope you do all the novel ships, Reverend.

Your work has a sense of...immediacy... to it
There are very few books which drew me in like hers
