Star Trek Nemesis Extended Cut

Suposedely a great deal of the movie was left in the cutting flor. You think such release will ever happen?
Will it make for a better movie?

Go pick up the Collector's Edition DVD, which has nearly 30 minutes of deleted scenes on the bonus disc. Then you can probably decide for yourself.

Personally, my answers to your two questions would be, "no" and "no."

I would say "no" and "maybe." With the right deleted scenes inserted, especially the Data/Picard Chateau Picard scene, the movie would be better.

Wasn't there more cut that's not included on the DVD. I thought originally they lost around 45 minutes in the final edit?

Yes, I think the Dvd only had 17 minutes of those 45. Of course, some of the scenes cut are probably superfluous material, but it seems that some interesting character scenes as well as more in depth explanations were left off the movie. These would probably improve the movie. Turn it into a good movie? Now this is another subject.

Still, I hope Paramount's greed get this released someday, lol.

Near as I can tell, the original version of the film had a decent balance of character moments and action. That's not to say it was a good film. The same core story flaws still existed. But there was some decent character stuff in there.

Unfortunately, that version came in at something like 3 hours. Naturally, because we dolts in the moviegoing public would never manage to sit through a 3 hour movie and because we much prefer big 'splosions rather than actual character development, all of the character stuff was chopped out to make room for the action.

If you compare the leaked online scripts there's not too much character stuff and dialogue lost that hasn't been added to the DVD bonus footage. I think a lot of the unseen cut stuff was just even more excruciating land vehicle chase footage after they found the bits of B-4.

^ Yep. The novelization of Nemesis (like all books) is far superior to the movie and includes the cut scenes. I read it in a day because it was just so hard to put down!

Saw Nemesis in the theatre with a friend of mine and I was let down by it, he enjoyed it though (he was a former Trek fan at that point).

As I recall, StewMC did a pretty respectable job of re-editing deleted material back into the film and put them on YouTube. There were alternate opening and closing sequences. Not sure about the Picard/Data wine scene or the bit involving his quarters being cleared out though... Definately worthwhile seeking out as they put back important material in the context of the film.

I'm hoping Nemesis will get some extensive reworking for that eventual HD/DVD re-release.

Here's Patrick Stewart's thoughts on an extended cut of the movie from Trek Web. This was from a few years ago.

"I think if ever there was a real need for an extended edition of any of the work we've done, it would be for NEMESIS," he says in excerpts now available at Sci-Fi Pulse. "It wouldn't be a 'Director's Cut' of the film - that might be even shorter. But maybe an 'Actors Cut.'"

I bought this, holding out hope that I could justify the movie's existance if the deleted scenes were good enough. But they weren't. Most of the deleted scenes were complete tripe.

Wasn't the film being re-edited by a fan around here? I seem to be unable to locate the said thread...

Does anyone else know what I talk about?

I liked the movie but the added scenes made that movie so much better. I think if that movie is shown in the theaters it gets more respect.
