Star Trek magazine Movie Issue question

I've been waiting to receive the new Star trek magazine movie isssue 18 in the mail and haven't gotten my copy yet. Anyone else still not received their magazine in the mail either? I checked the book stores for issue 18 but all they had is issue 17.:vulcan: Maybe they sold out quickly at the book store.

I too have not yet recieved my copy (my VERY last copy via subscription btw) and thus I went to B&N and purchased a copy. The reason I am ending my subscription is not because of the quality of the magazine (which is great) but because my issues always come bent up and damaged and I'm sick of it! I don't just read the magazines but I collect them and when I looked at the subscription price and hwat I was paying at the newstand I only saved about $3.00 and that is not worth the frustration to always have damaged copies. My advice is skip subscription and by from your local vendor. At least then you can check the issue for problems before purchasing.

Huh, I haven't gotten mine either, but I also just subscribed like a month or so ago, so that might be why.

Thanks for answering my question. Hopefully sometime soon my magazine will arrive in the mail. if it doesn't I'll go to the bookstores again and see if I can buy a copy.

A higher than normal proportion of subscriber copies appear to have had delivery problems this issue. If you're a subscriber and have not received your copy, please email us at expsmag@expressmag.com with your membership number, mailing address to which the issue should have been sent and your contact email address, and we'll do our best to rectify the problem.

Apologies to those who've had this problem!

Well....my copy FINALLY arrived today! My LAST subscriber issue (THANK GOD!). I bought my newstand copy over two weeks ago and again my copy came all bent up and damaged so I'm glad I have stopped my subscription. I will continue to purchase the magazine because I do like it but it will be from the bookstore from now on. At least then I know I have a copy BEFORE any subscribers get theirs and also I can make sure my copy is in "mint" condition before purchase.

I hope I can get my copy sent through the mail soon and everything has been straightened out.I haven't been able check to see if the bookstores have the movie issue yet.

Have you contacted the distributors and told them about your problems with the subscription? We can't do anything about it if people don't tell them: commenting on bulletin boards unfortunately doesn't get there, unless you have an editor who reads them - and not everyone does.

Same point - have you contacted express mags at the address I quoted earlier? Others have, I know, and their missing issues have been replaced.

I always buy mine through Borders or Barnes and Noble. I would like to subscribe, but our mail carrier is none too gentle with our magazines. We have tried complaining to our Post Office, but nothing has ever been done to rectify the problem. My wife and I finally decided to buy locally for our periodicals. :(

I have problems with having different mailmen delivering the wrong mail Constantly. They don't check for the right name listed on the address. And half the time you wonder if whoever got your mail keeps it. I wonder if that's what happened with the StarTrek movie issue.

Without impugning anyone, it's a really weird coincidence that it's the movie special that has disappeared more than any other issue of STM in the near-3 years I've been editing it... What's even odder is that copies of other mags that were sent at the same time from the subs house *have arrived without problem*!!

Cue Wardilmore with a prequel to Time Trap...!!

^ I have no problem accusing my local postal carrier. If he's not constantly delivering my mail to the house one block over (and vice versa), then more often than not he's sending boxes back to the P.O. as "unable to deliver" because they're too big to fit in my mail box, and he doesn't want to lug his fat ass up to my porch to leave it by the door.

(Except when I call to bitch about it....then all of a sudden stuff just magically appears.)

Anyhoo.....good mag. :)

How long should it take a new subscriber to get his first issue? I don't have the issue, but I also just subscribed early last month.

Oh yeah, there he is, in the credits on the last page! "Interview editor: Marco Palmieri." Cool! (And Bob Greenberger wrote the cast biography sidebars.)

Rule 1: You can't edit yourself. All the interviews I did for this issue (and for 19) were edited by Marco, as well as being a very good sounding board for matters arising. Freelance contributors will be delighted to know that with issue 20, I return to my hiding place and only emerge to edit (the non-movie stuff that is - I'm still writing those features)

I still haven't received mine either. I will wait a few days and then give them a call. I usually get mine at least a little bent up. I sometimes ask for a replacement and when they come they come in a nice envelope and in good condition. Too bad they just don't send them that way the first time. I guess it must be more $$. Maybe a little cardboard would help. My Entertainment weekly and TV Guide come in good shape without even the wrapper ST has. Are they getting beat up because they are coming from out of the country? My renewal letters used to come in French until I asked them to send them in English. I don't want to go to the bookstore every month to get a copy, but it is too expensive of a magazine to get beat up. One thing that would keep me as a subscriber would be if it had those cool technical briefings like the old big Star Trek: The official Magazine had. I really want some technical stuff related to the new movie. Other than delivery issues I really like the magazine.
