Well I wouldn't want them to drag it out over the entire season. Boimler has to be part of the cast.

So don't bother transferring him to the Titan if you're just going to undo it two episodes later.

Anyway we all know the actual reason, it was just an excuse for McMahan to get Riker and Troi on the show. Why tell new stories when you can just reference proper Trek every ten seconds.

Speaking of Data, "The Most Toys" (which I need to rewatch now to learn more about the Collector's Guild) reveals that Data won't wander around naked, even as a captive prisoner, because of a morality subroutine. Implying that nudity would be considered immoral by Soong at least, or perhaps as a Starfleet officer or something.

There is also the S7 episode with Data’s “mother” who reveals Data never wore clothes so She and Soong wrote him that modesty program.

Because it was awesome.

And they were pretty awesome there too. The awesome is for its own sake.

Re: Communal Showers

I've worked backstage in performance shows where people are constantly changing clothes without any real sense of modesty because it's part of the efforts. I don't see how people in the 24th century not caring about the whole thing is unlikely. Besides, you probably would have questions like 5 or 6 sexes once you introduce Andorians.

I went with a 6 this week.......just didn't grab me and felt jerky and rushed going back and forth from ship to ship........now that everyone is back in place maybe next week will be the first real episode of the season. I did kinda feel bad for the ensign they booted from their booth at the end.

Ok, all you want is nostalgia, cool. That's what most people seem to want these days. I'm glad it worked for you. Personally I'm looking for good writing and new stories.

7/10.

I was a bit disappointed that they didn't do more with the Tamarian angle. And I get that Boimler getting demoted while his transporter clone got to stay on the Titan was meant to mirror Riker's transporter-clone story, and the gag of watching Boimler being terrified on the Titan had gone as far as it needed to, but... I dunno. Aside from being a wee bit inside-baseball it also didn't... really make sense. Lower Decks usually does a better job of making all the zany comedy stuff still fit together logically.

It was fun, though. A pair of action-packed stories with nice character beats and some genuinely funny events (I got some laughs out of the sonic shower scene, Kayshon getting turned into a puppet, the giant Spock skeleton, Kahless' sex helmet... lots of good stuff). The references flying thick and fast as ever (they even had Riker do his funny leg-propping thing), some genuinely amusing self-referential comedy about TNG vs. new Trek (the Titan crew ragging on how "boring" life on the Enterprise must have been, and Boimler standing up for string quartets, was funny)... not their strongest episode, but there's still a lot to like.

I find it also funny and the characters likable.

I think your issue is you don't want a light and fluffy cartoon series.

I just think there's so much wasted potential, the characters are fun and the humour is decent. The show can also have some real heart to it, and the ship porn is miles better than Discovery or Picard.

It's just a shame McMahan doesn't seem interested in carving out his own corner of the Trek world, and chooses to instead parody or reference shows that actually added something to Trek.

Which, from his own explanations, seems to be the exact pitch he gave to CBS/Kurtzman to get the show produced.

So, going by what we're seeing, it is exactly what he wanted to do.

I'm sorry it's not what you would have pitched to CBS if it had been you.

I also noticed the U.S.S. Titan transporter platform has those dividers between the panels of the resonator array that the Kelvin Timeline and some DSC Era transporter platforms have.

That design started with Voyager and the Enterprise-E. The Titan's interiors are very much inspired by the Ent-E, colour wise and even rooms. The Conference room is right from Nemesis (minus the ship model displays).

It's a comedy/parody, though. I think that has to be taken on its own merits. There's Prodgies coming up if you want a serious animated series.
