I think if the same stuff would happen on the Enterprise, with known characters who never acted like that on the live action shows, it would be much harder to 'accept'. But this is a very different ship with very different tasks and very different people, so ...why not XD
I'm only mildly bothered by more general things that don't 'fit' into the universe as we've known it so far, like human ascension to a koala heaven, and it being not that special

As mentioned previously, the show runner has said LDS is canon. If it’s on-screen and paid for by CBS, it’s canon. Period.

Many Trekkies historically have big problems laughing at themselves. Always have.

Finally, this show in particular (and the myriad conversations in this and other threads) has quite effectively demonstrated that “having fun” doesn’t appear to be in the skill set of many within that subculture.

When you take all these things into consideration, it explains why many people seem to have a hard time with it. It is seen as anomalously contradictory on several levels. as compared to what came before.

I, however, happen to love this show and have none of these issues with it, so... :)
Well I guess since I don’t like this kind of “fun” means that I don’t like “having fun”. Thanks for letting me know that about myself. Looks like you know me better than I do.

If you find the show has no redeeming value, why torture yourself with it? I have issues with Discovery and Picard, and had my say, but even there I found some elements that made going on the journey worthwhile.

Never mentioned you specifically, but thanks for expressing such insecurity over something that some asshole on the internet (me) said based on what others have said prior to your own post (and, kind of proving my point in the process ). Sounds like you have some things to work out. Carry on...

Its just a cartoon made for a bit of light fun so get over it
If you expect too much of this show then maybe you need to lighten up!

Cut it out, all of you. There's no reason at all to tell anyone here to “get over it” or “lighten up” or otherwise discuss their personal motives or character. Just stick to discussing the episode and what others are actually saying about it.

Question bugging me:

Are Chu Chu actually on the ship or are they a holo-performance being projected across the Quadrant via subspace?

Seems to me that it has to be live and in person or else what is the big deal about not being able to watch it? You could always pull it up in the holodeck.

Fancannon:

The Remulon Sisters are a one-hit wonder that has fallen on hard times. Hence, they are now playing a venue like the Cerritos and have tried to milk their fame by making it the Chu Chu Chu dance.

This episode made me wish for Dawnn Lewis as a live-action captain. Her delivery is great, and she really has the presence for the part.

I'm not big on crossover cameos, but I wouldn't mind an Admiral Freeman appearance in Picard season two.

I liked it. For once, I was able to finish it.

The writing has been somewhat uneven (I knew where the last episode was going about halfway through).

She's certainly come a long way from "A Different World" back in the 80's.
