There was a preview picture showing Mariner in an operations yellow uniform at a poker game with the senior staff. Was that in "Temporal Edict", or is that in another episode?

^^^ I take it that's good? Is that Cockney rhyming slang or some colloquialism the kids are using these days that is alien to this old fart's ears?

Ransom showed more this episode
But it's different because Mariner is a woman, so every time she shows part of her skin it must be because of sexual reasons, i.e. purposely “showing her boobs”, while Ransom as a man can have multiple reasons to uncover himself. #sexism

In the Lower Decks panel of the Comic-Con @ Home stream Mike McMahan asked the voice actors about their favorite episode in season one, and Dawnn Lewis (Captain Freeman) responded with an episode where her character tries out something new and promotes Mariner. I guess putting 2 and 2 together we might surmise that that's the episode where we'll see Mariner in gold. That's just an educated guess, though.

Of course Lower Decks would make the guy who started as an unnamed extra in "Encounter at Farpoint" the most important person in Starfleet history.

Meaney was never an extra. He was a credited SAG member who has three lines in Farpoint and some substance in establishing Q's awesome power of illusion. He was top billing in the Featuring list, admittedly credited as "Battle Bridge Conn".

From Mike himself

“So why did we put that statue at the end of the episode? If you ask the common fan on the street to name the most important Star Trek character, they’ll probably say Picard or Kirk. Us Lower Deckers would like to offer a different answer...

Chief O’Brien is the original Lower Decker, moving from an enlisted crewman all the way to professor of engineering at Starfleet Academy. We experienced his full life in Starfleet: his marriage and relationship with Keiko, being a dad and moving up in rank and location, the dynamic between enlisted crew and officers through his friendships with Bashir and Sisko, and the trauma he experienced being a veteran of the Federation-Cardassian War. One could argue Miles O’Brien is the most fully realized character in Star Trek, and we ask, no, demand he be given a statue.

While a nod to Miles might be seen as slight by a casual fan, those of us who spent years watching him grow across two television series know he is, without a doubt, the most important person in Starfleet History.”

...Although we can always plead mixed heritage when we get humanlike and not-quite-so-humanlike examples of the same alien species.
There could also be several felinoid species, just like the many humanoids we see

No, it was mustard. The other episodes were pants.
TOS command shirts were mustard ;)

He also lied to Kirk - who else can say that? XD
