Star Trek Literature Villains

The Overlord

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
Who your favorite Star Trek literature villain? Who is the most sympathetic Star Trek literature villain? Who is the most evil Star Trek literature villain?

My favorite Trek Lit villains are probably David Mack's duo of Presidential Chief of Staff Koll Azernal and Federation President Min Zife. Federation President Pro Tempore Ishan Anjar turns out to be one of TrekLit's most prescient creations. Breen Domo Brex and Tzenkethi Autarch Korzenten Rej Tov-AA are fascinating in their megalomania. Alizome Vik Tov-A is fascinating in how frustrating she can be, and Una McCormack's Peter Alden is a wonderfully morally ambiguous villain. The visions of systemic evil seen in Breen, Orion, Cardassian, and Federation societies are amazing. And of course, there's Sedin from Destiny.

Rise of the Federation is great at setting up recurring villains.
I always hoped to see a Sela heel-face-turn, becoming a hero/good guy or some such.

I'm gonna be the first to mention Black Omne. I'm not sure where he fits in, but I think he was Trek Lit's first real villain.

I shudder to think what he did to poor Kirk in those Phoenix "extra chapters" ... :ack:

^ I tried reading those Phoenix novels but found them absolutely impenetrable. I couldn't finish either one.

Far as I'm concerned, Myrshak & Culbreath are the Trek literary equivalent of David Lynch films.

I always hoped to see a Sela heel-face-turn

Now I have this vision of Sela trying to learn how to line dance. :guffaw:

Androvar Drake. Ashes of Eden. Kirk's rival in Starfleet. Similar career to Kirk. Partly responsible for the genesis mess. Part of Cartwrights conspiracy. Tried to travel back in time to beat Kirk.

Is Peter Alden supposed to be a villain? I took him to be a bit messed up by certain events in his past but not a bad guy per se. (OT: he's back in Una's next DS9 book Enigma Tales, apparently.)

A totally fair interpretation! But yeah, I interpreted him as being at least an antagonist in Brinkmanship.
