I found this photo during an unsuccessful Trek Christmas avatar search. A comment about the photo stated it is a float from The Festival of Lights parade in East Peoria, Illinois, USA:

That's a fantastic photo, Sector 7! I saw it too when I was looking for my avatar. It's really sweet that people went to all the trouble of actually making an Enterprise out of Christmas lights.

I never did find ANY avatars. Not even one using Bing and Google image searches. I finally gave up and kept the one I used last year. It is still my silent witness.

This picture is giving me ideas for next year's Christmas decorations... hmmmmm.

You can tell that the float architect has a passion for the original Star Trek Enterprise. They really did an amazing job and got very close to the original shape and proportion of the ship. Very cool--thanks for posting it!

Speaking of Enterprise floats, there was a Thanksgiving Day Parade last year honoring Gene Roddenberry.

Some Enterprise floats are less accurate than others...

But apparently at this parade in Iowa, minor actors from the original Star Trek cast were present. Looks like it would have been fun to attend.

Speaking of Enterprise floats, there was a Thanksgiving Day Parade last year honoring Gene Roddenberry.

Looks like the secondary hull went and pulled a James Doohan.
