Personal. No details, but evidently a fair number of people involved in the business, either in marketing of some kind or exhibition, saw the trailer today.

Hey, you may be on to something. IMDB lists a Gary Khan as director of a film called "Sex Odyssey" in 1970.
His finest work, as I recall. Cost me a roll of quarters.

Star Trek:Into Darkness, will be in cinemas on September 2013 Japan, reveals a special footage presentation on 4th December from 9:50 at 109Cinemas Kiba, cinema2(IMAX), Paramount Pictures Japan announced. Director J.J Abrams, Chris Pine, Benedict Cumberbatch and Producer Bryan Burk will come to Tokyo to attend.
If anyone hears anything further let me know!

LinkI’ve seen the trailer – it doesn’t confirm that Cumberbatch is playing Gary Mitchell. He has a monologue where he mentions “revenge” and he looks to have stronger than human strength, so it’s a possibility.
Also, the Enterprise goes underwater. It’s going to make a beautiful desktop wallpaper

Maybe Abrams considers "The Ambergris Element" to be canon, though I don't think the Enterprise did a Flying Sub stunt there.
