so in the scene that kirk dies which was suppose to parallel spock dying in wok. I was not so trilled with the rehash but I did not think it was that bad however I wished they had remove the Khan shouting by spock. I felt it was too much because in that moment we had too much fan service and calls back to the old films that it made star trek into darkness not look like its own film.

so it should have been two options only and the writers should have chosen one.

keep kirk dying exactly like spock did in wok and remove the khan shout by nu spock which was a throw back to TOS Kirk or

Keep the Khan shout somewhere in the film and completely remove Kirk dying the same way spock did in wok. the writers should have chosen one of the two instead of putting the two most iconic scenes of WOK in STID and at the same moment. I felt in a weird way that it crippled the story telling of the film.

The "Khaaaaaaan!" moment was completely ill-advised, in my opinion. From having Spock be the one to scream it (Not to mention that Quinto looks cross-eyed and goofy when he does it), to the complete misunderstanding of the how and why of the original version...just poor choices all 'round. It ruins what should be an emotional moment.

I wouldn't have included the scream. Not because it's a throwback, but for the same reason it pulls me out of the movie in TWOK - i just can't see the original intention through the meme it's become. It's now a joke to scream along to.

But I really liked the flip perspective engine room scene. I also liked how the scream was drowned out by the Vengeance nearly smashing straight through the Enterprise, almost like Khan was responding.

And even if I personally wouldn't have included it, that doesn't mean that I hate the fact it's there.

I would not have included it as well but can live with it. however including it immediately after another scene from WOK was too much.

I liked the scene (watched it all again last night), and I think it works. Of course, all it does is remind me of the lady in the row in front of us at the theater who called out "ooh, he mad!" whenever Spock screamed.

That said, the part where the Vengeance tears past the Enterprise on the way down still makes me jump!

If I were to choose to remove one, it would be the Khan scream.

That said, I love the scene, I think both Pine and Quinto deliver fantastic performances, and from the moment Kirk sucker punches Scotty, I was on the edge of my seat.

I get people's reservations, but for me, it works great.

Again with a thread about Spock shouting Khan's name?

Well, however many of those you've had before (and it's a lot) this one earns you a warning for spamming. Comments to PM. Thread closed.

As if it hadn't previously been made clear several times over: no more threads from you about Spock shouting Khan's name.

None.

At all.

Ever.

You're completely finished on that topic.
