Star trek III b: No Search for Spock

Admittedly, I don't remember where I heard it but I thought that The Wrath of Khan was produced by Paramount's TV division.

Starlog reports regularly mentioned that ST II was to be produced by "the television arm" at Paramount, and many of the crew were people who'd worked with Harve Bennett on his previous TV productions. It was to be a TV movie, but released theatrically internationally, following the examples of "Battlestar Galactica", "Buck Rogers in the 24th Century", Spielberg's "Duel" and "Mission Galactica: The Cylon Attack".

Just before production began, though, ST II was promoted to feature film status.

That is very interesting. That does change things a bit. If it had been something that changed during production that would be very different. Going by the production value of TWOK, and indeed the ingenious re-usage of resources, I would not have guessed it was intended to be a TV movie.

A shame about Alley. Curtis makes for a good role, but honestly Alley makes for a damn sexy Vulcan with really nice looking hair. Cattrall looks good, but Alley's hair wins back in 1982.
