This feels more likely. As someone who has always loved the Flynn version, there are too many obvious ways they could have homaged it in the episode, and didn’t.

It's a shame that Boris Karloff's Thriller isn't in syndication because I've read good things about it.
I would especially like to see 'Cheaters' and 'Pigeons from Hell'.

"Masquerade" with a young Elizabeth Montgomery is also worth checking out. Based on a short story by Henry Kuttner no less.
