One way to allow vowels and still make it interesting is that it costs you it acts in the smae manner as an incorrect guess.

We have penalties for incorrect guesses?

I never do vowels. As far as I'm concerned, it's up to each person, but I;d never guess them and I never allow them either. Vowels are just too common.
