Star Trek: First Frontier on Kickstarter

Ugh. Fanfilms seem to think trailers matter. Put all your effort into finishing the film.
And stop posting release dates........odd that it was going to be out in March 2019 then you decide to completely redo all the CG FX with a new artist.......adding another year to post.

It’s interesting that they have someone doing CG work now, considering the effects were supposed to be practical, I wonder if they are replacing shots that didn’t work, or enhancing the existing practical effects with CG?

Maybe they found out what a PITA practical shots can be to Post; and weren't satisfied with the results they got, and 'gave in' to the fact that decent CGI can be done cost effectively and provide a better end visual result compared to most practical/real physical model effects?

Shit---that didn't even occur to me. That could be a reason. Just wish they would explain.....shit happens, delays happen, just let people know. When you go MIA it looks bad. Hope MOST of the model work they did survives. It was a beautiful ship they built.

Did they say the effects were going to be practical or just the models? Because, unless they are shooting artwork on an animation stand, their starfields and phasers and what have you are going to have to be CG. And I'm 100% sure they are compositing everything in CG.

Good question. I don't know the answer, but that sounds reasonable.

Glad it is out in the wild now. 20 minutes in and I am digging it so far but is the sound mix rough for anyone else?

Wow I came to say the same thing....20 minutes in, the acting is better than expected, and I am actually interested in the adventure, but I had to crank up the volume all the way for the dialogue and keep playing with the volume as the music plays.
