Star Trek Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton

I went there for a second time just this summer. It was as awesome as I remembered it when I went first ten years ago. The Borg ride was neat, but could have been better, I think. The idea of getting assimilated is neat, but I thought it fell short a bit. Oh well...it was still fun.

I think the funniest part of the thing is when you see one of the actors doing stuff on the bridge, but then later, you see the same actor in the Borg ride. My buddy and I were jokingly going "hey...hey...wait a second!"

God, I hope they don't shut it down, at least not before I try to get there in the future.

I'd just for one love to sit in that Captain's Chair on the Enterprise.

I took my sons last August for the 40th anniversary convention at the same hotel. We did the two rides and then opted for the picture on the bridge, but not the picture in the Borg coves or the behind-the-scenes-tour. The guide we had was very cool. He took two small groups for either photo op to both allowing us all to walk around the bridge for about ten minutes and then allowing us all to get into the coves. We got the offical picture we paid for, and then got a bit of the tour as well. My boys and I stood or sat at every work station; the bridge is highly detailed and in great shape. The whole thing was outstanding.

Next summer, my wife and I are celebrating our 20th anniversary so we're taking all of our kids on a driving trip out west and we'll be stopping in Vegas to renew our vows at The Experience.

Just completed my second visit and had a great time. Enjoyed the rides and really enjoyed the museum. Left with some "loot" from the shop too.

Too bad you didn't have time for a Warp Core Breach at Quark's. That's the icing on the cake.

Is it food or beverage? If the latter, does one need to be a certain age to drink it?

Ah, the Warp Core Breach. It is without a doubt a beverage, and one with quite a kick. I can't wait for August for my 5th visit!!

I can't wait either. I'm going to be in Vegas for a week and a half including the Trek convention that is being held at the Hilton. :D

Does anyone know what the Warp Core Breach is made with? I'm assuming it's alcoholic, yes?

I'll put it to you this way. After consuming one (and I can hold my liquor,) I slept on an airplane for the one and only time I've ever been able to sleep on an airplane.

It's good stuff!

Im glad this thread is running right now. I am going to go Vegas in March for a Political Science convention, and wanted to see the Las Vegas Hilton. Now i have an added reason to see it. (My prior reasons were because the hotel starred in a Bond movie, Diamonds and Forever, and it was the place where campy jumpsuited fat 70s Elvis revived his career). Any advice though as to what to see specifically at the Experience?

When I had my hotel room reserved for next year's Vegas convention, I asked if it was closing down and the lady I talked to said it wasn't. That could change though.
The convention includes a party tenatively scheduled to be held the Experience.

ETA: speaking of the convention. I got a Gold ticket and I was wondering how many are made available (apparently they've sold out, according to their web site).

Even though Bob Picardo isn't listed as an official guest, it looks as though he and Ethan will perform "Doubles" again this year. (At least that what it says below Ethan's picture on the website).

It's a lot of fun if you haven't seen it. The best stuff is when they go off script.

I have been lucky enough to go there 3 times. Having a sister who lives in Vegas has benefits!

Last time in May I was disappointed that they cut off the ending of "The Klingon Encounter". Where you see a News Report in which the Government denies the sightings of the Enterprise and the Bird of Prey as Swamp Gas!! I am not sure if they cut it out completely or just so they can fit more rides into busy days. The monitor was still there.

Speaking of busy days, it was very crowded when I visited in May. More so than previous times. So all these rumors that its closing are most likely just that RUMORS. Its seems like they are still doing good business.

I think adding a TOS era attraction would be a great idea. It may help draw in an older generation who don't know the new shows.

I really wish they would update the Projector and get a new film print of "The Klingon Encounter". Its really starting to show its age. I have noticed this with other movie rides as well. THey use the same print for years and the colors and clarity of the image begins to fade. Also you can too clearly see the segments of the domed screen through the film.
