I say we should just wait and see... these things happen; only problem with fan films is that we're not obligated to finish to a deadline, we're not making them for studios with implicit deadlines to air. Sure it's frustrating, and embarrassing sometimes if you're the ones trying to put your labour out to pasture... it is better to dispense with the deadlines as anything can happen in film unless you have a subtstantial budget to cover all eventualitites, and when I say substantial, I'm talking millions.
It's happened to us, our original air date was meant to coincide with the original airdate of the Avengers, i.e. 7th January, which has been and gone, there have been a variety of reasons why we've been stuck and to be frank it has actually worked out for the better.
To quote Brian Clemens (Writer/producer of the original 'The Avengers') 'Don't set a deadline and half kill yourself rushing to finish something, just make sure the end result is good'.
My advice to the Excalibur team, take your time, lose the deadlines; regarding the website, strip it back and simplify it, don't give everyone everything all at once. Motion picture films are good example to follow; have a teaser site that's linked to facebook, whilst the boffins work on a kick ass website that the teaser site will link to once everything's finished. A teaser site allows you to have a polished look without clutter that will impress, even if it's only a front page and duplicate with a teaser trailer on it. Updates can we added via twitter feed (widget) and on the facebook page you're linked to.
This way you can take your time getting a fully functional website with all the bells and whistles working offline ready for its a big launch with the end result of your hard work and filming.
