Star Trek episode most watched?

I must admit I was confused why 'Time and Again' appeared but then I found another article on it. Reading this article, they mention that Netflix disregarded the first two episodes of any of the series because they would be the most watched of all. Especially with people who'd never seen it before (I know - weird right?) Usually after two episodes they've decided whether to stick with it or give it a miss. I presume that Voyager's first-time viewers took a little longer to decide and watched 'Time and Again' as well. (Or they left the room and left Netflix playing...)

That would explain it :)

^perhaps, but I wouldn't understand why they would like this episode more than numerous others. That episode is very average in my eyes and shows no element really that hadn't been shown several times before (or after, for that matter). Even the episode directly before that (Parallax) did the causality loop thing.

The only thing I could think of is that maybe in this ep, Kes' special powers are hinted upon for the first time (I don't know for sure, though).

I will never understand why Voyager fans seem to be so reluctant - or unable - to put aside perceptions and enjoy the series wholeheartedly and without reservation.

As a Voyager fan in particular and a Star Trek fan in general, I have no trouble believing that the episodes identified by Netflix would be people's most-rewatched, as they all emphasize and represent different facets of what makes the series so strong.

The bolded is a complete fallacy.

Voyager is very serialized; it just mixes its serialization with an episodic "crime procedural" approach.
Indeed-I didn't say I agreed with the criticism.

Anyone who watches Voyager and pays attention knows past events are referred to and do have consequences.

And yet serialization is still frequently trotted out as one of the things that the series lacked, even by people who call themselves fans of it (the show).

Instead of wholeheartedly embracing the series for what it was, the attitude amongst Voyager fans is often "I like/love it, but..." , which is not something I see with any of the other series.

Voyager isn't perfect, but it didn't need to be.

No l love it for what it is, and I didn't expect it to be anything else.

Why is Voyager on this list?

Fansplanations found on the 3 current threads about this list:
-People own the other series on DVD/BLU, so they don't need Netflix for Trek other than Voyager
-People didn't watch Voyager when in aired. They're watching it now.
-People were so confused about these episodes, they had to watch them again to make sure they were confusing and it wasn't just them.(Except for Best of Both Worlds of course)
-They left the TV on and Netflix will autoplay the next episode.
-DS9 has ongoing stories
-Da Borgz

-People just like those particular episodes?Nahhh.

netflix doesn't just autoplay anymore..after a few episodes it asks you if you fell asleep ;)
I wish it would've done that those nights where I fall asleep only to wake up in the middle of the night to find my phone on, playing Netflix, and half my mobile data for the month eaten up because I forgot I turned the Wifi off.

Well, I can understand the other episodes on the list being top picks, VOY or otherwise. Just not the single one I mentioned. I would like to know what apparently is so special about it.

(Frankly, I'm also a bit surprised about TNG's clues being that high up, even though I like that episode myself).

In keeping with the tone here but also factoring in a typical fan.. ;)

-I own several DVD/BLU collections but will watch a televised episode or whole series of any one of those because I don't have to sweet talk hubby into putting those mirrored disc thingies in the machine
-I watched most of Voyager when it came out and re-watch at will
-I don't think I get confused about episodes or maybe I do.. I'm not sure now but if I understand the meaning of the fansplanation here I think I don't, if that is what I mean
-I read the next one as they left the TV on with Nelix not Netflix. Must revise my above response
-DS9 was an option
-Voyager sometimes featured Borgs and sometimes didn't

I agree 100%. No, 120%. Even on this very board there are people calling themselves fans of the show while in most of their posts they do nothing else but keep telling people what they don't like about it.

Most of the time I'm rolling my eyes. The solution is very easy, I think. You don't like Janeway's hair? Don't watch it! You don't like time travel? Don't watch it! You don't like the reset button? Don't watch it! You don't like that this or that ep doesn't feel like it's a season finale? Don't watch it! You don't like that someone accidentally called a lieutenant an ensign? Don't watch it! I could go on and on and on ... Most of the "criticism" is just pathetic in my eyes ...

Oh! Well.......I guess you're just weird then, clearly! In fact, please turn in your fan card, I hereby revoke all of your opinions until you figure out what good Star Trek is.:angryrazz:

The Netflix Statistics tell the story:

-Everyone's seen TOS a million times already, and aren't watching anymore in big numbers.

-TNG continues to be popular

-DS9, for all the noise it's small hardcore followers make, how it's the "best Trek"....it's just not popular. Never has been, never will be. There's inescapable reasons for that.

-VOYAGER, for as much as TNG & DS9 loyalists love to bash it in comparison to their favorite Treks, is a likeable, popular and very watchable TREK. There's only one reason why it does the best on Netflix- it's a damn good series-well cast, well produced, likeable characters, well written, and a pleasant diversion and escapism.

The stats are the validation. Voyager is great!

Oh love this, thanks, will try to retain these thoughts whenever someone online will condescendingly say 1. Of course DS9 is the Best Trek Evah! or, 2. Well Voyager may have a few fans but it's never been that popular, really! or, 3. (Insert usual Voyager criticism here while gritting one's teeth.)
