Star Trek Empire --- anyone hear about this?

Going through some old data CDs, I found this picture, which I first stumbled on sometime in 2002 or 2003.

Now, its entirely possible it was just a neat photoshop job and nothing more, but I seem to recall there being more about this particular project than just that.

Finding the image sparked my interest again so I thought I'd query everyone to see if anyone else knew or remembered anything about it?

Can't say I've ever heard of it. That said, it's not unusal for these things to start up and then fade away. Given how long ago it supposedly went into production, you'd think we'd have heard something else about it by now.

Of course, it's also possible that they're still working quietly away on it.

Great poster! But I'd wager that it was abandoned (or never really started) given the complete lack of any sort of info about it online.
