Star Trek: Emissary

If PIC is any indication of what they’d do with a DS9 sequel, then I’d rather they did nothing at all. Sometimes it’s best to just leave the fates of your favorite characters to the imagination.
Indeed. It's ok to not have everything followed up on. Imagination is good for the soul.

Even if Brooks wanted to do another Star Trek project, audiences would want to see mature adult Sisko from season 7 again, not 75-year-old "why haven't you retired to your house on Bajor yet?" Sisko. I (and more to the point Brooks) would not want him to do a walk-through just to show his face, if it wasn't important to the plot.

I think viewers could tolerate seeing 75 y/o retired Sisko, if it was a 30 second cameo. Since it at least acknowledges his pledge to return to Kasidy.

If this is a title sequence only for "Emissary" and not for the entire show
It's neither. It's the opening for an imaginary show that comes after DS9.

Rick Berman was the executive producer for all seven DS9 seasons.
But isn't an EP on this imaginary show.
Michael Piller was also omitted.
Because he's also not an EP on this imaginary show...and is dead. Same reason why Rene Auberjonois and Aron Eisenberg aren't credited.

Though for some reason Terry Farrell is there despite you know, Jadzia being dead.

Would love to see an imaginary scene with young Sisko and Curzon Dax, but not with Dax wearing that TNG season 1 Starfleet uniform as depicted in that book, since I’m pretty sure Dax wasn’t in Starfleet.

Yes, I'm pretty sure Jadzia said Curzon had no use for Starfleet. I see Curzon in a nice civilian suit, something bold but not as over the top as, say, Quark's suits.

Hmm ... given that we saw Curzon-Odo make an outfit for himself, there's a good possibility Quark and Odo get there clothes at the same upholsterer.

The guys that did the amazing fan-made DS9 season teasers (and contributed graphics to the What We Left Behind documentary) are back with this beautiful What If ? (What if there was a new show that picked up after DS9 but dealt with multiple points in time?)

Hmm, good point

Cool credits, my only criticism is that it says "Based on Star Trek Deep Space Nine", that would not happen, it would definitely be "Based on Star Trek created by Gene Roddenberry", giving credit to him is the only reason this part is included.

There's also no such thing as Terok Nor Television! ;)

Children of Mars and Star Trek Picard both say "Based on Star Trek The Next Generation". (Which obviously still name-checks GR.)

I fully grant you that if this were real it would have to have Roddenberry's name on it...but these days it would also have to have a dozen or so producers credited on it too.

No reason a hypothetical DS9 follow-up couldn't carry the credit, "Based upon Star Trek created by Gene Roddenberry and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine created by Rick Berman & Michael Piller."

Imagine being a huge fan of Deep Space Nine and pouring your precious time, energy and talent into creating something as awesome as this — just for the heck of it and because you obviously love the show — just for it then to be scrutinized for its every detail by fans online as if it were some official product. Gotta love Star Trek fandom sometimes. And full disclosure, I've absolutely been guilty of doing that myself in the past. But sometimes I wonder why fan artists even bother to keep putting out stuff. Oh well, I guess everyone's a critic.

The Based on DS9 would be more directly accurate. Brandon Tartiloff wanted two things: a series by Rick Berman and a series that took the premise of The Rifleman, a widower and his son, into space. It was Berman who wanted to bring it into the Star Trek universe. It would go forward, and Gene, liking money (and women and a few other things), agreed to make it part of the franchise. I would argue it would have been more accurate wording to have said DS9 was based in or set in Star Trek.

Possible gluttons for punishment?

I totally agree here. I don't wish to see my DS9 favorites in something as doom-and-gloom as PIC.

I'm also in agreement, the CBSALLACCESS Trek stuff has been pretty dark and I wish it was something more 2nd season of DS9. Doom-and-gloom as depicted from PICARD sounds right, I wouldn't want this.
