Star Trek DVD/Blu sells 5.7million in week one.

I'd be interested in what those numbers actually amount to when it's said and done though whenever someone releases them.

Hopefully the Star Trek DVD/Blu-Ray sales will be strong now at the end of this week and generally throughout the holiday season.

If it's like book sales, they'll never give the correct figure...

I'm happy about the strong sales, and given Star Trek's dedicated fan base, I think the movie should continue to sell well for years to come.

(I can assure you that TDK didn't jump as many spots as it did because of a coincidental sudden interest in the film in one week.)

I saw the list and thought, "That's weird that Dark Knight jumped up so high," and then I remember...I just bought The Dark Knight on Black Friday, too!

So yeah, it's definitely impressive that Trek managed to stay in the Top 5 considering Black Friday was last week.

The-numbers.com: Star Trek sells 3.6 million copies first week on DVD

Here´s the sales estimate from the-numbers.com:

Star Trek sold 3.6 million dvds the first week. That´s about 53 million dollars in sales.

So far Trek is the twelfth best-selling movie in the US 2009.

Star Trek is still selling well on BD. In its third week, it dropped from #2 to #3, behind two new releases (Terminator Salvation and Night at the Museum). Angels and Demons dropped from #1 to #5.

Terminator beat Star Trek's record for share of BD sales, with 42% of its packaged media sales on BD (Star Trek got 38%).

That site does not track Blu-ray sales. Trek is well over 6m already.

I have the dvd but now that I got a BluRay player as an early holiday gift, am planning on getting the BluRay disc as well (the dvd can be my "loaner" copy). Tho I admit, the only other Trek movie dvd I have is TWOK. So I count, sales-wise, as a casual fan rather than a die-hard even tho I saw all the films after TWOK in theatres. Only Star Trek (2009) more than once in theatres, tho.

In overall dvd+blu sales Trek has leapfrogged Terminator, Night at the Museum and gone back in front of Up. Seems to be getting a bit more momentum as we get to Christmas! All good signs.

It's so great to see these numbers still climbing! That is wonderful.

And me? I haven't even bought my own copy yet! Need to get on that this week...maybe after the Christmas rush is over at last. I hate the stores this time of year.

That is terrible. I have 4 copies on Blu-Ray (2 Target exclusive, 1 Best Buy exclusive, and 1 Amazon exclusive), and one copy on DVD.
