Consumers beamed up "Star Trek" in droves the week ending Nov. 22, enough to make the summer boxoffice hit the top home-video seller and renter its first week in stores.

"Star Trek," from Paramount Home Entertainment, easily topped both the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart and Home Media Magazine's rental chart for the week. The film sold an estimated 5.7 million discs its first week out, according to Home Media Magazine market research -- a figure that includes all of North America as well as the rental market.

For those who 'predicted' this movie would be a failure, I have four words:
I

TOLD

YOU

SO

!

 We did our bit; we bought both. Glad to see we beat those Twilight fans at something. So tired of them winning all the online polls.

Impossible!!!

Please double check those numbers. I was specifically told, right here in this very forum, that once people had a few months to think about this film they would realize how awful it is and want nothing to do with it. Well, seven months have passed since then. How can you explain these numbers when a few posters here have said that no one is buying this dvd in their city; that they don't know a single person who liked this movie.

And the fact that they did not want a reboot has nothing to do with what they are posting. Oh, no, nothing at all. They don't like this movie because it's a bad movie. A very bad movie. I'm sure sales will plunge next week when people realize how much they miss Scott Bakula. Mark my words.

I refuse to believe these numbers. You're all in denial. That is all.

Indeed.

I won't be picking it up on DVD as it's most definitely a Blu-Ray flick, and I won't be picking it up on Blu-Ray until the price comes down.

^The price at Wal-Mart was very good on release day for the Blu-ray - $26. I WASN'T ALLOWED TO BUY IT, THOUGH. :wah: I think that I'll see it in about another 30 days.(I would have put a Santa smilie in here if there was one)

^ Wow. I was at Walmart at midnight on release day and got the 3 Disc Blu Ray Special Edition for $19.

I haven't seen it below $40 here. $15/25 are my 'comfortable' price points for DVDs and Blu-Rays respectively, anything pushing beyond $20/30 better have a damned good reason for doing so.

At this rate it'll be a while past Christmas before I pick it up.

The standard BD was $19.99 at pretty much every major retailer last week. The only ones that were more expensive included retailer exclusives.
