Star Trek Discovery to drop F-bomb (at least twice)

Of course, this is just prepping Trek fans for the upcoming Tarantino film, starring Samuel L. as Admiral Julius "Jules" Smith:

Hey, Kirk. The Prime Directive. Learn it, muthafucka!!!

The F-bomb has been around forever and in usage forever. Other Star Treks in the TV franchise didn't feel the need to use it because they had standards.

Standards and practices maybe. :p

Look, I don’t see this as edgy. I see this as realism. If a cadet, in a moment of excitement, drops an F-bomb, that’s realistic. Do you know how many times I said that word in college, more often than not in moments of excitement? I don’t have a problem with the word now, and I use it still, but far more sparingly. If it makes sense to the situation and it’s something someone would say in reality, I just don’t understand the big deal.

I'm an atheist, so have no religious objections to cursing. In fact, apart from when I'm with my mother I've got something of a foul mouth, but in Discovery ?

I'd probably rather they didn't.

Not a fan of the swearing.
Its not going to change the fact that Ill be watching it. But I wont be watching it with my kids until I prescreen it.

You know... I tried, I really tried to like Discovery, but between the implied graphic violence and now that we know for sure that the f word will be used (which is completely verboten in my household), it's clear that this show is not for me nor my family. Oh well, c'est la vie. I hope everyone else enjoys.

You guys are free to raise your kids however you like, but they hear "fuck" and worse on the playground. Maybe watch it with them and explain to them why it shouldn't be used?

The immature desire of Americans to give expressions a supposed edge by swearing, and then getting into a moral shakeup about it.

They do? I haven't had that experience with the playground my kids or my friend's kids.

Granted, I've already had the swearing discussion with my children but that's due to adult family friend's using those words, though.

They have heard worse and i have had to explain it.
I didnt say they arent going to watch it. I said I was going to prescreen it so that I get to watch it twice.
My 4 year old loves watching TOS on the ipad. I can let her watch that and not worry much about whats going on. Im not yet sure I can do that with Discovery.

Son: Dad, what does "fuck" mean?
Dad: It's when a man puts his penis in a woman's vagina.
Son: Eww. I'm never doing that.
Dad: You'll have to, eventually. It's how babies are made.
Son: Oh. But why did they say it? It doesn't make any sense?
Dad: It's all part of the rape culture, son.

There was a Facebook trend that didn’t go viral where you would add obviously cut-out male nipples onto mammaries.

7 pages in, not going to read everything. Just chiming in to say.....

It's the word fuck. If you make a big deal out of that, I really hope you make actual problems we face in day to day life even bigger.....

I think if this was The Orville using 'fuck', people would be complaining about how crass Seth MacFarlane is.
