Star Trek Discovery: The Future is Definitely Female

I'm no expert on the subject, but the wiki on Matriarchy claims
Most anthropologists hold that there are no known anthropological societies that are unambiguously matriarchal, but some authors believe exceptions may exist or may have.
.....
According to J. M. Adovasio, Olga Soffer, and Jake Page, no true matriarchy is known actually to have existed

Can't say I have much interest in a female-forward mission. I do have interest in a human-forward mission.

"The future is female" is a nonsensical statement.
It's also just a catchphrase for an all-woman roundtable discussion about the show, and yet even something as innocuous as that is enough to get some overly sensitive men in a tizzy.

Some guys are just deeply insecure. They know they’re weak so women in any position of power, even fiction ones remind them of that and they freak out.

Women did use to exclusively brew beer. In early settlements, the men would hunt and the women would grow crops and prepare them. Part of this included brewing beer. This continued for centuries. These female brewers because well known, using huge pots to brew it, keeping a broomstick above their door to make that they were open, keeping cats nearby to eat any mice that got near the grain and wearing tall hats to stand out in marketplaces. These women, with their knowledge of plants were also healers using certain plants to treat various illnesses. Men eventually moved in and pushed them out, then the legend of the witch emerged to demonize these women.

I think it can be fun to watch depending on their reaction. Just the casting of this show alone months prior to premiering was just an amazing demonstration of how many "fans" miss the whole point of Trek.

Funny, I think it's (the future) a masculine noun in French?

Since no one else seems to remember... yes, you are correct. :)

I spent years perfecting handwriting that made 'le' and 'la' indistinguishable.

But if you use "avenir", it doesn't even matter... l'avenir. :D

* leaves thread quickly, before someone brings up "a future" instead of "the future"... *

My handwriting has often been compared to the tracks of a drunk chicken.
The only person at school who could really read my handwriting was my best friend, mainly because she sat next to me in physics for a year or so.

Matriarchial and matrilineal are different, but get confused sometimes in anthropological discussions.

Outside of the arctic, in most hunter-gatherer cultures the basic, reliable food supply is what is gathered. Hunting and fishing provide supplemental nutrition.
