Star Trek Discovery Season 4 episode Ratings

Yes, the first couple of episodes of the mirror universe were pretty great, possibly the highlight of the first season, the following ones had definitely overstayed their welcome for me (the constant “I thrust you/I don’t thrust you” was especially annoying).

The thing is, The Klingon stuff basically knocked Discovery out of the Prime timeline. Otherwise what - are we to believe that Worf, Son of Mogh was walking around with a double holster that whole time?

And I'm telling ya, I painstakingly went through hours of TNG & DS9 footage freeze-framing on Klingon crotches. I don't see it.

...I'm not sure you're getting my little joke.
not getting it at all, sorry.

oh no, you are going to wake the “looks don’t matter” brigade with this! Don’t you know that television is not a visual medium?

There must have been some reason that Troi was interested in Worf. It sure wasn't his winning personality.

Ah, i see. Can’t agree at all, they were prett stereotypical double crossing evil guys of today imho.

In regards to Klingons in Trek. Klingons were the best, most interesting, for me in DSC. They were not the best part of DSC.

Same. I liked them as splintered factions with their individual interests as opposed to the 'Samurai in Space' on TNG.

I don't think Klingons in TOS are interesting at all. Just black hats.

I saw all the TOS Movies and five seasons' worth of TNG before I first saw TOS itself in the early-'90s. These were my first reactions to the main Klingon episodes at the time...

"Errand of Mercy" --> Disappointing. "There aren't Klingons!"
"The Trouble WIth Tribbles" --> Fun! No real opinion about how Klingon they are.
"Day of the Dove" --> Love this episode! These are Klingons!

The Klingons in "Day of the Dove" fit better what I think of as Klingons. It took a while for TOS to get there.

Then The Search for Spock came and ran with it. That movie solidified what I think of as 23rd Century Klingons. Obviously TMP gave them the look, but it was TSFS that perfected it. TSFS is where it all came together. Then TVH added the finishing touches with the Klingon Ambassador.

My opinion of "Errand of Mercy" has gone up with time. But that's only because I got over the initial shock I had when I first watched the episode. Going in, it wasn't what I thought it was going to be.

How Kor, Koloth, and Kang translated into DS9 backs up my point. Kang didn't change at all (not including makeup design or being older), Kor changed a little, and Koloth basically had to be remade from scratch.

DSC Klingons -- outside of the makeup -- feel in line with "Day of the Dove" and the TOS Movies. They're distrusting of Humans, think Humans are out to destroy their way of life, have a way of spinning facts to their advantage, and only respect strength. They also use the Klingon Disguised As Human idea from "The Trouble With Tribbles". The idea that battle is glorious, that Kor first said in "Errand of Mercy", I don't get a sense DSC Klingons think battle is glorious until "Such Sweet Sorrow".

So the question is, just how bad is season 4 or do you think the IMDB ratings are unfair.
I would agree with the ratings for the most part. Season 4 has been weak, not as bad as season 3 but not that much better either. The show has been a let down for the most part. Season 1 was great, season 2 was entertaining but it started the whole damn season long mystery that seasons 3 and 4 repeat.

I have no way to confirm this but I wonder if the various pandemic restrictions impacted time on set and people's availability? Basically, the writers had no way of knowing who would be available when, which as I type sounds ridiculous. But, there seems to be something going on BTS that is impacting production.
There was also an issue at one point where several actors tested positive and had to quarantine, and the show had to adjust accordingly. Which I think might be the reason why one of the episodes earlier in the season suddenly has a completely different bridge crew who seemed to vanish as Detmer, Owo and the others subsequently returned.
