STAR TREK DISCOVERY: 1x13 'What's Past Is Prologue' Trailer

Well, no offense, but I think someone has sold you a stinker on this one. I predict this will turn out to be total bollocks. I guess we'll have to wait and see, not least because a "fill in the gaps" spin off would be in production by now.

Could be. I guess we'll find out. Difficult to see. Always in motion the future is.

Also, FYI, it's to fill in the gaps between Discovery Season 2-3, not 1-2.

Last I heard, and mind you, this was a long time ago, the Enterprise shows up to save Discovery out of some unwinnable situation. As for the story reason...Spin-off series. :) You think CBS wants to give up all of that All Access subscription base while Discovery is a year between seasons? That's alot of money to leave on the table. They need something else to hold onto the Trek fans.
Holy crap!

With all this insider info you remind me of that guy Morpheus who used to leak info on the Enterprise board years back.

Personally I do. I think we will see it in the series finale. I can think of no other reason why they tinkered with the design. There is little point in changing the design just for a computer screen.

The design on the computer screen was pretty simple, I could totally see it only being for that.

Also one of writers confirmed the changes were done by the Terrans, that isn't the Prime design.

I've heard they've been developing the idea of another Trek show, but a Pike-focused one seems like a dumb idea, IMHO.

On one hand, it would allow crossovers between the two shows to happen on a semi-routine basis - allowing for potentially something like the MCU to develop.

On the other hand, it means we're stuck in the prequel time frame and can't really explore other eras of Trek.

I'm hoping for a cameo from Spock or Kirk, shown like they used to do with Jesus in the movies, showing just the back of the head, possibly out of focus.

Star Trek Online couldn't get Shatner's likeness rights, so all you see in that is him unconscious facedown on the floor, lmao.

So was anyone else potentially on the Enterprise during the Pike era besides Spock? I know McCoy wasn't yet on the ship - he came on at roughly the same time as Kirk. But we don't know when Scott came on the Enterprise do we?

Sulu and Uhura are of course still too young.

IIRC, David Mack said in his acknowledgements in Desperate Hours that he was requested by CBS to feature the Enterprise in that novel exactly because there were no plans for it to appear in the show.

If they don't use the exact crew as featured in Marvel Comics' Star Trek: Early Voyages, then I will demand a refund.

I sometimes wonder if CBS shouldn’t just ask to Screen STC in the Discovery break. It’s sat right there, and am pretty sure everyone on it would say ‘yes’ even if there was no remuneration.
DSC has Roddenberry's son in the credits who considers STC canon, too.

It’s a real possibility. I have never been that struck on TOS, never that struck on fanfilms, but STC, purely from a reconstruction perspective, is amazing. It’s a shame there’s that accidental fracas between Shatner and Vic, because Vic really gets Shatner perfect in his mannerisms (voice maybe less so. He’s a bit falsetto.) You can squint and it’s like watching TOS.

I just don't see them airing the fan films for a general audience. We are primed to like them. I'm not sure other eyes would be as forgiving.

It would be like a serious publisher publishing Twilight fanfic. Oh, wait, bad example.

Vic Mignona WAS at the DSC premier. Just saying...

STO actually has 4 actors from STC in it:

Vic Mignona
Kipleigh Brown (she was also in an Enterprise Season 3 episode)
Chris Doohan (he also appeared in Star Trek '09)
Michele Specht

I actually have very little insider info. I just OCCASIONALLY get a juicy nugget from other insiders. Guy who knows a guy situation.

If they show the Defiant ( or any other Connie ), I'm going to have to ask everybody to fasten their seat belts. The ensuing nerd rage is going to reach levels never before thought possible.
Can't be worse than the reboot Enterprise reveal in 2008. One of my first ever posts here was "I wonder what Matt Jefferies would have thought?" and someone replied "Before or after he slit his wrists?"
