Good standalone episode.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that - it really was a standalone episodic adventure. Aside from the budding kinda/sorta Burlyr, nothing in this episode seemed unresolved by the end. It set things up so that Mudd's arc in the show may have ended (for now) and we didn't even get to see the Klingons in an end-scene teaser. I was shocked they went as "old Trek" as they did on this.

Not bad but I can only give it a six due to it being an obvious copy of "Cause and Effect."

My present theory is the last few episodes were done out of some executive's terrified belief fans wouldn't accept Star Trek: Discovery was Star Trek.

So we've got classic Trek plot after classic Trek plot.

Captain is kidnapped and needs to be rescued
Rescue the ambassador while the Admirals harp on the Captain
Now time travel shenanigans.

My next pick is we visit a world which is Medieval Russia or 1950s Earth :)

Not one of the better episodes, but not that bad.

New factoid: Betazoid was at least known, if not in the UFP, by Discovery. That sort of debunks the semi-common theory that they were in the First Federation.

I tend to keep to mind the fact the Betazoids are the Deltans (Delta...Beta) but sanitized for TV.

It really does feel like they've done a bit of a 180 doesn't it? I mean, if you compare this past episode to the third one, it's like they were in alternate timelines or something.

One issue I have with this... did they really say only 10,000 people died in seven months of war? I know they said 8,000 before but that could have been argued was just the first battle (and the original edit said it was just the first two days). They've kind of been implying this is a big war, and we know that the Dominion War casualties numbered well into the millions.

It doesn't really affect my opinion of the episode, but still kind of irks me from a lore perspective.

That was actual theory?

This is a igood one. Even my wife watched and enjoyed it. She's a casual fan at best.

It does kind of lend some credence to the idea only the pilot(s) were done by the original show runner because of American Gods.

This leaves me with mixed feelings as while I approve of Classic(er) Trek, I also felt the show should have trailblazed its own identity.
