If ten years of the TREK BBS has proven anything in the least, it's that the whole canon thing will never be 100% resolved to everyone's satisfaction, especially in regards to materials directly attached to the canonical episodes and big-screen films.
While 98-99% of the stuff out there isn't and SHOULDN'T be canon because it is so off-kilter, uneven and partially or even totally incompatible with established lore, some materials like this graphic novel should at least---in my eyes---be given partial consideration because of the fact the movie itself did little to set up some essential background.
If Destiny cant be canon, Countdown cannot be canon.
