Star Trek Continues, Episode 4...

Seven days to go and only a bit over nine grand for Scotty to get his engineering set.

C'mon, STC, you can DO IT!

Roger C. Carmel and Stanley Adams were both of a breed of larger-than-life actors whose like hardly seems to exist today. I'd be surprised if any actor could or would play those characters as broadly and robustly nowadays as they were played in the sixties.

I'm reminded of John Colicos, who was brilliantly over-the-top in "Errand of Mercy." The actor who played Kor in NV/P2's "Mind-Sifter" was well chosen, but he seemed too restrained and self-conscious to go "full Colicos."

You never want to go "Full Colicos."

I was surprised they didn't have Kor drop a "veg-et-able" in an episode titled "Mind Sifter."

A new Harry Mudd story would be great.

I think they've made it clear from their interviews that they won't be doing any more direct sequels, although I wouldn't mind seeing Vulcan, and maybe Sarek and Amanda again -(if they get the right actors.) I thought Ben Cross in the film was a perfect choice for Sarek, but I don't know where Vic can find a Mark Lenard / Ben Cross caliber actor.

A recent pic posted on STC's FB page is purportedly from Ep. 5 and has Vic as Kirk wearing the green wraparound tunic not seen since TOS' second season.

James Cawley wore it in "World Enough and Time" in 2008.

Neil

Vic Mignogna also wore it, as Kirk, in Starship Farragut's "The Price of Anything" in 2012.

And if you really want to split hairs, John Broughton wore the green wraparound as John Carter in Starship Farragut's "For Want of a Nail" in 2008, as did Jimm Johnson as Peter Quincy Garrovick in Starship Exeter's "The Tressaurian Intersection," which was shot in 2004 but completed in 2014.

Just because you don't acknowledge, watch, or enjoy the other fan films Warped9, it doesn't mean these things didn't happen. ;)

And Mignogna also wore it in the STC vignette "Happy Birthday, Scotty."

But I'm sure Warped9 meant "not seen in TOS" since season 2, in the context of STC's mission statement as continuing straight on from Turnabout Intruder. ;)

Anyway, the fact that the green shirt appeared in a STC vignette which was clearly set in the season-3 version of the transporter room means we shouldn't jump to any conclusions about a sequel to a season 2 episode merely because of the green shirt. In fact, the vignette introduced a new style of phaser, so it must be set later in time.

Still... I can't track down the statement, but something I saw just within the past week from a STC source suggested that they intend to have something of a mixture of new stories and revisits. Wish I could remember where I saw that.

I know John Colicos was stage trained (as was Shatner) and I'm pretty sure Adams and Carmel were as well. Stage trained actors tend to - emote - rather broadly since they would usually be at some distance from the audience and if they didn't do so, it might not be noticed...

8K to go for the Engine Room set. If things stay steady, kiktraq shows the campaign trending toward 183K which will cover both sets. i wouldn't be surprised if there is a push near the end, but it would have to be a major boost to make 225k for an additional episode.

I'm looking forward to the new episodes.

It's been a lot of fun watching the "Piece of the Action" style promos. In a couple of shots, as Vic turns his head away from the camera, it's like he and young Shatner trade places, just for a second. Eerie, almost.

That might be a lost art. The recent theater and musical productions that I have seen, the actors are wearing personal mics, so they don't have to project as much. They do tend to use the "theater voice" nonetheless, but I'm afraid it will become obsolete.

Sad. Thus endeth elocution. All actors will talk like teenagers in a high school play now.

I read one article that suggests that is the point, so the actors will sound more "natural", like people are used to hearing in movies and TV. It's very sad indeed.

Thank you.

Just a reminder that before we saw the green wraparound in STC, Phase II, or even Starship Exeter, we saw the James Cawley-made green wraparound in the Star Trek Enterprise episode "In a Mirror, Darkly" on Scott Bakula. That's the first appearance since TOS.
