Star Trek Continues, Episode 4...

That's right, I meant to post "at least one additional episode" given the inaccuracy of the trend. I'm fine as long as the sets are financed - eps 7 and 8 can be funded by a new KS if necessary.

Nevermind, if they covered everything here they wouldn't have to pay the extra ks overhead.

All right! A pic of Colin Baker in the Captain's Chair was posted on STC's FB. Nice!

Also check out the Tee he is wearing on his Wikipedia profile pic..

STC's stretch goals.

$150,000 - If they can reach this (and I think they have a good chance) they they will be able to build an Engineering set. :techman:

$175,000 - If they can reach this (also possible) they can afford to build a planet set. :techman:

$225,000 - They could film an additional episode. :techman:

$275,000 - Another additional episode. :techman: :techman:

The first two stretch goals I think they have a good chance of reaching at their current rate. The latter two goals I think the pledge rate will really have to increase to make it in the two weeks left.

25k to go to fund Engineering. I hope they build the raised levels on both sides of the main floor.

Oh, they're such geeks they'd have to. That's got to be why it's so expensive.

They've raised enough now to afford the matter. Another $25,000 will get them the antimatter.

Just watched the Kirkstarter videos (silently, as I'm at work with no earbuds)...and Vic's mannerisms are SO Shatner-as-Kirk. I love it!

Some people move like Jagger, Vic moves like Kirk. No one else in fan films or other reproductions has got the body language right the way he has.

It's unfortunate that the pace seems to have slowed down, but if I remember correctly it's not a smooth curve for most successful kickstarters and they often pick up in the last week or so. So if the curve holds true, they should have a very good chance of making at least the first two stretch goals if not the third.

Does Vic have "the moves like Kirk," or does he, rather, have "the moves like Shatner?" (Is there a difference--and while it's certainly seminal, is Shatner's portrayal of Kirk also definitive?)

I could, and almost did, say "moves like Shatner's Kirk," and for me, yes Shatner's portrayal is both seminal and definitive.

I'm still not sure who gives the best overall non-Shatner performance as Kirk, I haven't seen enough of Brian Gross to fully judge his performance. I just think Vic sells the role best when just walking down a corridor.

It's like the various fan films, I really don't think there's a single best production (though Exeter's The Tressaurian Intersection comes close). In general I think STC is more consistent than PII, but I'd give PII higher highs and lower lows.

The latest Kickstarter update has SF writer Robert Sawyer giving a testamonial for STC.

Could be a way of trying to juice the pledge rate. At least it's sincere because I know Robert is a huge TOS fan.

Robert Sawyer has a small role in Ep 4 according to his FB page.

STC's take on Fizzbin is also up on the KS page.

Yes. He jokes on his FB page that he has more lines in his testamonial than he does in Ep. 4. In the episode apparently he's referred to as the relief Science Officer.

STC is brilliant stuff - captures the very essence of the actual series! Episode 4 will be particularly good since it's got one of the Doctors in it. :)

For a while, Vic appeared at the same conventions as another popular voice actor, Scott McNeil. Scott had developed a "convention personality", which included sleeveless western style shirt, cowboy hat, jeans, etc. It was pretty much his "thing", so for fun Vic once showed up cosplaying AS Scott McNeil, right down to aping the voice and mannerisms Scott had worked up as part of his character. Google it up - the results were downright eerie.

Point being, that when I first saw Vic as Kirk, his ability to mimic existing characters is darn fine. He was a guest on my improv show at a couple conventions as well, and those skills are certainly put to effective use there. :)

I think someone might have already suggested this, but I think it would be cool if Chris Doohan made a pitch as Scotty to help get his Main Engineering built.
