Star Trek Continues, Episode 4...

I'm really liking Todd's performance. I think he's on his way to outdoing Jeff Quinn as the best fan film Spock.

I really liked Jeff Quinn as Spock and he had a wonderfully alien look about him. Although, Todd's performance is growing on me and he's spades better than Brandon Stacey. There feels like there is something boiling underneath with Todd, an inner life as Nimoy calls it. Brandon's performance is off, coming off as more Data than Spock.

One thing I will say is that Todd's look — makeup and hair — is better than Brandon's. There's something not quite right with Brandon's pointy-ears and the wig is a bit distracting because it looks so much like a wig. And I totally understand why Brandon wears it —*as a working actor, he can't afford to cut his hair into a Spock bowl for a few weeks outta the year.

Hmm, they've already announced that they go off the ship, so that can't be it. And they probably won't announce that they're shooting in February, because they didn't announce the January shooting till it was done.

Maybe it'll be who's directing.

I'm imagining they'll give us the episode title (and perhaps the director), as they did with "Lolani" (assuming my memory is correct). Perhaps even a poster that includes a guest character but doesn't reveal much in the way of plot details.

Doubt it'll be the title. We still don't know the title of Ep 4.

So, what you're saying is... it's more an issue of my ability to count.

Haha. I lost track and thought we were discussing the next episode, not the one after that. I'm going to go with guest star, in that case.

Here's the announcement: They've already done at least some of the shooting for Episode 5. They did it during the Episode 4 shoot.

My guess is they did all the Ep 5 scenes on the Enterprise (which may have been minimal) and they'll be doing the location stuff next month somewhere in California.

Hmm. Well at this rate it certainly looks like we'll get at least two episodes released this year and possibly three.

:techman:

Maybe they jumped the gun and are already building the planet set for episode 5?

If they ever need a 20th century Earth-like urban environment, I hope they consider filming in the Bradbury Building to carry on sort of a traditional sci-fi location. I wish TOS would have filmed there.

I want to know who the guest stars are in V.

I guess it makes sense to have shot stuff for episode five already. I am in agreement that they very likely did all the shipboard scenes and will do their location shoots here in L.A. (Vasquez Rocks?) to avoid having to spend all the money on another company move to Kinglsand, which we've all discussed already as being a very likely expensive part of their budget.

Hmm, forgot about the moving expenses for a second shoot, however besides the main cast, not everyone is from LA, and hotels in LA - mucho $$. It would be interesting to know the actual cost breakdown. I guess it is most likely cheaper to film in LA and Vic and the other local cast can always open their doors to out-of-towners during the shoot.

They reached their Kickstarter target rather quickly, but I'm wondering about their stretch goals. They might have to think of some way to generate some serious buzz to juice the rate of support pledges.

Yeah, I was originally hoping they would make enough for 4 or 5 episodes, but at the moment I would be happy if they made the 225K stretch goal for 3 episodes.

If I understood correctly Ep. 4 is already paid for from their previous Kickstarter. So the current drive is to pay for Eps. 5 and 6 (which they've accomplished) and hopefully more sets and assorted stuff as well.

That's the case up to $175,000 (Engineering and planet set). If they get past that point, each additional $50,000 makes another episode. If they get less than $50,000 it goes into assorted stuff.

I'm sure it's not accurate until the last day, but Kicktraq has STC trending towards 277k which will cover both sets and one additional episode.

Actually, $277K would be enough for TWO additional episodes, as per the stretch goals list.

So we would then get the two base episodes (5 & 6), the two sets, and two more episodes (7 & 8) IF the KS follows that prediction.
