Star Trek Continues: Episode 4 and beyond?

And so now the speculation: what might be in store for STC's Episode 4 and beyond?

We know it's a challenge in regards to building new sets, working within limited filming windows and opportunity for location shooting. But any speculations as well as what we might hope for?

As long as the episodes are engaging I don't mind the bottle shows given how many good bottle shows TOS had. Still it would be nice to see a planet story eventually or something set off ship like a Starbase, space station or another ship.

Any speculations?

I would like a show taking part in place on another ship-like in the Doomsday Machine - in the ultimate computer we all rained our neck hoping that blue shirt woudl turn so we could see his ship patch

^^ Yeah, this has been discussed before. The initial idea was that the arrowhead insignia was supposed to be for everyone, but somewhere along the way someone wasn't getting the memos. Even in Season 1 we saw different insignia, although that was Starbase personnel.

But since there was inconsistency on this issue in TOS then it could be argued both ways.

The idea in itself has appeal, but it seems somewhat less credible when trying to imagine a different insignia design for every single ship in service.

Maybe Starfleet could have had different divisions or something and the insignia could denote that. That could explain why the Enterprise and Defiant have the same insignia while the Constellation and the Exeter each had a different one.

I've heard in the past that nurses' caps are different, depending on where they schooled. If true...how many different nursing schools are out there?

I love what they've done so far, so they have earned my faith that I will enjoy what they come up with next.

But having said that, here are some things I would really enjoy seeing...

1) Something new! It would be awesome to see a new TOS-style alien. I loved the retro aliens that were designed for MIB3. Something in that vein would be fun.

2) A planet story.

3) If they delve into Trek lore again, it would be nice to see the return of a species like the Gorn that haven't been done to death. Perhaps they could work something out with Total Fabrication. The Gorn suit they designed for the Star Trek game commercial, while not perfect, was the best recreation of the original suit I have ever seen.

4) I love the use of Matt Jefferies' designs that weren't seen on the show for the ships in "Lolani". I'd like more of that. Perhaps they could showcase some of the unseen of barely seen work of Wah Ming Chang (like the Taurus II anthropoid design) and William Ware Theiss for upcoming shows. I dig that stuff.

5) Stories inspired by literature, classical science fiction, World War II and TV westerns- really anything that feels like it would have inspired TOS, without just doing "Star Treky" stories. That's a trap that most fan films never escape from.

6) Develop some of the unused stories from TOS, like "Joanna" or "Rock-A-Bye-Baby, or Die!".

7) Talk a few science fiction authors into writing scripts.

But I have loved everything they've done. I just don't want them to only play Trek's greatest hits, come up with a new tune or two.

Well, there's not a different unique cap for every nursing school. (They'd have to start using propellers and horns to make them look different.) Instead, there's basically a menu of a few dozen styles from which nursing schools select their "unique" (but shared by other schools) cap style.

(Mine is Kay's Caps style 2247. Unlike Corporal Klinger, I seldom wear mine. Also, if the wind catches it just right, I would turn into "The Flying Nurse.")

Gotta agree.

That's right, GSchnitzer, I'd forgotten that you mentioned being a nurse. If I'd remembered, I'd have asked you directly..seems you're never short on information! :) Thanks for that!

Interesting, though, because when the subject about uniform patches came up, you popped into my mind!

And to unify the subjects of nursing caps and Starfleet patches, here's an article I put together a while back.

Wow, that was weird, the way the thread split into two disparate subjects, and was re-unified by Greg!

Thanks for the reading material! :)

Ditto.

They clearly have a passionate and talented technical crew, and I'd love to see their take on TOS elements like WWT costumes (surely Vic deserves a Kirk romance story soon :)) and stylistic sets like Spectre Of The Gun. Plus a strong military adversary like Kor or the Romulan Commander.

In an interesting coincidence, our episode currently lensing ("Mind-Sifter") features "Kor:"

The notion was received badly before....but I dare to mention it again. There are a lot of very good scripts already written and ready to be filmed that have no production to film them. I've got four of my own, and know of at least 6 others. Someday I would love to see the fanfilms cooperating and sharing resources - not only cast and crew, but writers/scripts, unusual costumes/props ,filming sets and what have you.

Of course, I've always been a dreamer....you know, like Roddenberry's dream could be real....

If I heard correctly, STC is in Georgia. I'd be happy to help out behind the scenes, or as an extra in the background.

Check out their website. They are working with the Farragut crew. Contact either group. Fair warning, that while making these shows is plenty of fun, it's also hard work!

They're about an hour north of you, JJohnson, in Kingsland/St. Mary's Georgia. There's a Starship Farragut event this coming weekend in fact that you might be interested in attending. There's also the Farragut Fest Open House in December. STC uses their sets.

Well, that answers some of my questions. Right now I live in New Jersey and am shortly to move to Los Angeles. I guess I'm not well placed to get involved with ...Continues in either location. :(

A bit more information about that is here:

not starting an old debate here, my point is how excited were we to see inside another ship? what was the intrepid like ? was there an all Andorian ship
