I completely agree and have said so more than once here and elsewhere on STC's Facebook page and in direct feedback through their website.Regardless, McKennah is still not an equal. She doesn't hold the rank of Captain and is therefore subservient to Kirk. She's not the CMO, so she shouldn't have the same leeway as Bones. AND she hasn't been on the ship that long nor does she have a history with Kirk beyond what we've seen in two adventures. Her portrayal in that regard is unrealistic.
Well, unless her position as counselor does give her the authority and ability to speak frankly and openly with the captain. It seems that the position would almost have to require that sort of freedom for her to be effective.
Agreed. And I find her tone of familiarity when she hasn't earned it crosses over into disrespect.Well, unless her position as counselor does give her the authority and ability to speak frankly and openly with the captain. For me, that doesn't fit the template. But that's just me.

That's an interesting point. And mercifully so far STC has been largely devoid of TNG style technobabble except for that one flub (by Sulu) in "Pilgrim Of Eternity."Regardless, McKennah is still not an equal. It's because fan films are more informed by the TNG-ENT era when it comes to the writing of their scripts. They look to TOS for the aesthetic, but it feels as if the writers turn more to TNG-ENT for how they should write scripts, from the way the characters interact to the reams of technobabble.

That's my understanding. The last part is still coming? It's been a better part of a decade.
