Star Trek Conquest for Wii

Mistral

Vice Admiral
Admiral
Anybody have/played this game? Opinions, quirks, things I need to know? Got it for $12 so expectations are low...

Not a horrible idea for a game, but it gets really repetitive quickly since you're doing the same thing over and over again. If it had more depth to the starship combat and empire building it would of been really great.

I enjoyed it, seemed kinda like a stripped down version of Birth of the Federation. But to be fair, I played through a few times, and never went back. Worth £12 I paid though.

Really Really bad. Combat is pathetic, controls are insane, how did this one make it past beta testing?!!!

I have the PS2 version. I'd call it "frustrating fun." If you actually do the fights as you take systems, it's a bit more fun, but it of course takes longer.

I thought this game was alot of fun. It works very well on the wii with the wii-mote working like a computer mouse. It's a simple strategy game but I think it's worth the cheap price it sells for.

I just picked up a used copy for $17.00 a couple of days ago. So far I'm enjoying it. I'm not sure how the re-playability will be, as the scope of the game is rather limited. The manual combat feature is fun.

I've been playing it off and on for Wii. It's easier to win playing some races than others. The Klingons, for example, are easy to play on any difficulty. The Romulans and the Breen are much harder, due to where they start out the game and their abilities. Still, plenty of fun, and without a steep learning curve.

It's okay, but I'm back to my old stuff like Starfleet Command II and Dominion Wars.

I enjoyed it; I do recommend saving often as Bethesda didn't seem to have worked out all the bugs and this game is the only Wii game I own that crashes regularly.

You can check out my review if you're need any extra convincing!

I have it for PS2...it's OK, if a bit repetetive.

I can beat it on Hard against 5 opponents with either the Federation or the Cardassians in only four turns.

The computer AI is dumb...REALLY dumb. If you refine your tactics, you will never lose a battle that you choose to fight yourself.

Yeah, in order to up the challenge you'd really need to avoid the arcade combat and use one of the other modes or else handicap yourself by using fewer ships or else allow your opponents to build up.

The biggest AI weakness seems to be misplaced agression. I've had them attack each other when I was vulnerable or vice-versa; special weapon are also under-utilised. Still, it's fun for a go now and then. I'd really like to have an updated version though!

The AI cheats (can see your systems to Genesis Device/Wormhole them from beyond their sight range, even though you can't)...and it still can't beat you unless you let it.

Only the Dominion remotely approaches anything resembling a threat, and that's only if you let them live long enough to reduce the price of their Dreadnaughts to 25m.
