Star Trek Brings In $7 Million Thursday Night

I actually wound up paying for two matinee tickets and two regular priced tickets... and only saw the film once!

My daughter got sick last night and I wasn't able to take my brother to the 10:45am showing this morning. The tickets were non-refundable.

Ah, well... at least I contributed $30 to the opening weekend.

Non-refundable! That really sucks. What theatre chain does that?

I guess we can't really complain about $77 Million, but I think its kind of sad the movie has been reivewed so well and It won't really come close to trash like wolverine. Even with long legs, opening at $77 Millionish means getting past $150 is going to be a long slog and makes the odds of a big sequel lower.

77 million and 100 million first week is fantastic news. Wolverine will fade, Heroes and Demons will share center stage with Trek, and maybe you'll have a 60-70 second week. Battle's half won...!

Especially given Batman precedent.

I think a $70-75 million opening for Star Trek is absolutely fantastic. That's more than Star Trek Nemesis made in its entire run! Hell, that's even better than the opening weekend of Batman Begins. I think strong word of mouth will push this way past $150 million domestic.

I'm counting on it.

I think it could pick up. I've been telling everyone that even if you're not a trek fan, it's worth going to see.
