I thought the single-player gameplay got old after a while. But it's probably the best starship combat sim from "Star Trek" that I've ever seen. Multiplayer battles are a lot of fun.

The mods work fine with a cracked copy - once I finished the game, I loaded the enterprise J or something like that - it's fucking ludicrous - it fires off something like 40 quantum torpedo per volley - ships just go BOOM!

yawn - it's abandonware - nobody cares - none of the production staff are missing out on any profits.

Just as Ferarri wouldn't be missing out on any profits if a rare, vintage 250GT Berlinetta was stolen from someone's driveway. The game is still *somebody's* property and you're still getting something for nothing. You're still stealing.

The individual copies are someone's property - the code has been abandoned - why is this difficult for you to understand?

For your example to make sense, someone would have to steal the physical copies.

Yeah, its not a perfect analogy since software can be copied and a car cannot...but the point is that you are getting something for nothing that is not being given to you freely.

You are simply wrong and I charge for the level of education you require.

I bid you good day sir.

Anybody with a kindergarten-level education level knows that stealing is wrong. And public education is free.

You sound just like an anti piracy PSA. "You wouldn't steal a car, would you steal a game?" :guffaw:Sorry but stealing a car and downloading a copy of a game that's no longer sold new is not even close to the same ballpark.

How much do you want to bet that if we emailed the developers of the game and asked them if we should pirate the game or buy a $50-80 used copy they're going to tell us to buy a used copy. Heck, I doubt Activision even cares if you pirate it anymore, it's not like they're ever going to be able to sell it again unless Bethesda suddenly decides to license all of their Trek games.

Regardless of the legal issues (abandonware etc) - discussing websites where you get free stuff - e.g. peer to peer and bit torrents/newsgroups etc is against forum rules. I'm deleting all the posts in this form and would ask that the original poster create a new thread to discuss Bridge Commander and not tell everyone he obtianed a "copy" of the game.
