Star Trek: Bounty - 6 - "He Feedeth Among the Lilies"

Very nice. I haven't read your whole story yet; just the prolog you linked to at the beginning, and this post, but I really like the premise and the banner between the crew of the Bounty. I found a few interesting parallels with my own story, the action outside of Star Fleet and the loose connection with the Admiral.

The whole ethical question of the Prime Directive and the belief that isolated cultures should remain unadulterated is an issue I find fascinating. There was a NG episode, I think, where Q accused the Federation of arrogance for creating the Prime Directive. I don't have a lot of time to write and even less to read, but I am trying to catch up with a couple of these stories. Thanks.

Thanks for reading! Glad you enjoyed it. While there are some ongoing plot threads running through the series overall, I’ve tried to make each Bounty story as ‘standalone’ as possible, because I appreciate that I’m asking an awful lot for anyone to catch up with absolutely everything I've written. So don’t worry too much about trying to read the whole thing (unless you really want to!). :D

And I never really got the Prime Directive tbh. Felt like the writers didn’t either. It was either the most important, unbreakable principle in the entire Federation or an overly harsh bit of legislation any officer could ignore if they felt the need to, depending on what made the plot work that week. I’m sure it’s ripe for a seriously thoughtful deep dive in some form of story, but I don’t think the Bounty’s crew are the ones to do it.
