Star Trek Books Not Available as E-Books

Carry on from my last check, 1980s Pocket Books Star Trek original series novels #11 through #20 (Yesterday’s Son through The Vulcan Academy Murders) are all available in eBook format.

Thanks. That would make sense. However most if not all of the 1980s early Pocket Books Star Trek novels seem to be available as eBooks, don’t they? Uhura’s Song is one of the books on the $0.99 sale. Are you thinking that all of those had to have eBook agreements written up and agreed to by the original authors over the past few years? (And what of the authors who are sadly no longer with us?)
Any non-public domain book, Star Trek or not, that’s been digitally republished and didn’t have digital rights covered in the original contract will have had a new agreement negotiated in the past ten or fifteen years. Deceased authors have estates that handle such matters. In most cases that kind of thing is pretty routine.

Star Trek: Starfleet Corps of Engineers questions:

1. Is there a way for Amazon to show the Aftermath omnibus as an omnibus? Besides the 642 page count, the cover and description are for just the single story of the same name.
2. Are Out of the Cocoon and What's Past only available in the omnibus form in print and not ebook? That's all I can find on Amazon and the Simon & Schuster site.

1. Aftermath from Amazon.
2. Out of the Cocoon Is available from Amazon as a single. But What's Past is not. It's the title of the omnibus.

Your Aftermath link has the right cover and a better "Look Inside" sample than the version I found while searching Amazon, although both books have the same title, series number (#29), and reviews.

Out of the Cocoon is also an omnibus title (2010 release), but only the individual titles within it and the What's Past omnibus are available in ebook form. I'm glad the stories are available digitally at all, but I just find it odd that they are being treated differently from the previous collections.

The two 2010 COE omnibuses were never available as e-books. Maybe by that time S&S decided they'd rather sell 4 (or 6) ebooklets at $6 a pop, rather than two $12 omnibuses?

In any event, those two collections were last-minute fill-ins when the Kelvinverse novels were vetoed by Bad Robot. They didn't even commission artwork -- the covers look like clipart that was rushed into production. They didn't do a lot of advance planning on these titles -- they were meant to fill holes in the schedule. They also did a reprint of an old TNG novel (whose author had gone on to massive best seller success) to plug another hole in the schedule.

If Bad Robot hadn't vetoed the Kelvinverse titles back in late 2009 or early 2010, we would not have gotten those last two COE omnibuses. Not also getting e-omnibuses of those titles is unfortunate (cause I'd like them too!) but I'm guessing it was a marketing choice.
